Hellspont 1,468
Parents were upset when a Northern California drive-in theater screened the erotic “Fifty Shades of Grey†and “The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water†films simultaneously this weekend. The Sam Taylor-Johnson directed film, based on E.L. James‘ popular novel, follows the taboo love between Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) and self-made billionaire Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan). “At the time, there was a woman being slapped, naked, bound up,†explained Deborah Powell, who attended the “Spongebob†movie with at least a dozen children. “So we had to have our children close their eyes. I could see another car behind us that had children in there with their eyes closed.†The films were shown in the Bay Area at Concord’s West Wind Solano Drive-In. The theater has two screens, one pointing north, the other west. Both are still visible from different viewing points, KTVU reported. Powell expressed her concern to a theater employee about playing the R-rated film alongside a family-friendly movie. “He was apologetic. He agreed that it wasn’t appropriate, and that there had been other complaints,†said Powell. “There is no way to avoid looking at that screen. It’s too tempting. So, we couldn’t stay. We had to turn around. My children were devastated,†Powell said. KTVU reported the theater owner, Syufy Enterprises, didn’t respond to its request for comment. Mariann 301
Something for the parents and something for the children at the same time. How convenient. Apparently the employees didn't think it through.

UDO 35
these people were obviously not drive-in people, they should've known the drive-in oath. they should have stood, raised their right hands and repeated after the great Joe Bob Briggs - "we are drive-in mutants. we are not like other people. we are sick. we are disgusting. we believe in blood, in breasts, and in beasts. if life had a vomit meter, we would be off the scale. as long as 1 drive-in remains on the planet earth, we will party like jungle animals. we will boogie till we puke. the drive-in will never die. Amen." the drive-in is nothing compared to what it used to be. those people should not be complaining, imagine what it would've been like watching a spongebob movie with your kids at a drive-in in the 1970's or 1980's. movies and the drive-ins have lost everything that made them great back in the day, but they are lucky they still have a drive-in.
