Are you kidding? Only the biggest divas in the industry pull stunts like this. Big Machine Records is Taylor's b***h. They will bend over backwards for her, let her make whatever music she wants, obey her every command because she was their first signing and their biggest ever seller. They wouldn't do stuff like this without her permission or blessing. It's rare that someone of Taylor's age can hold so much power, but she definitely has it. She practically OWNS that record label for all the power she holds over it. You can be a fan all you want, but you need to know when to remove the fan goggles.

lmao you are always so extra about Taylor.

That is pretty stupid. I agree. That being said, Paloma Faith is annoying too. Shes one of those random nobodies that gay pop stans online try to pretend is a somebody because they can name drop them to come off like they have an obscure taste in music like they do with Natalia Kills and Porcelain Black. But they're all just incredibly basic b---hes that bring nothing to the table.

Paloma Faith is right, Taylor is becoming embarrassingly litigious.

The irony of a Lady Gaga fan deciding that an artist is annoying based on the characteristics of their fan base.

I thought she was smart enough to realize this has 0 to do with Taylor and has everything to do with her lawyers/record label/merchandise department. It's standard procedure.

Then why didn't Gaga's team trademark "this best is sick"

I'm no Paloma fan, but someone hasn't been following the UK album charts. She had the best selling female album there in 2014, ahead of Taylor who was 2nd. http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/the-official-top-40-biggest-selling-artist-albums-of-2014-3387/

I love Paloma, but she didn't need this.

Oh but we were told she is in charge of everything around her.

She easily could have trademarked "This beat is sick" for merchandise uses. That doesn't mean people can't use those words again for other reasons, you just can't use them on t-shirts and other similar objects.

For example, you can use "beat is sick". That's just how these little trademarks work, it's nothing unusual.

She is in charge of her music, performances and songwriting.

I doubt she leads the law team in charge of her tour merchandise that decided to trademark a couple of phrases so cheap knock offs of tour t-shirts and hats don't pop up on eBay. :rip:

the point is there's 0 originality in those phrases so specifically trademarking them to Taylor, or anyone for that matter, is nebulous and will lead to a slippery slope of celebrities trademarking every **** lyric in their songs they think is worth money

They already do that often. :rip: It's just for tour merchandise, it's not like they are branding those words and forbidding anyone from using them ever.

That's likely the main motive, but are you sure it will stop there once lawyers smell profit?
