An estimated 5,000 to 15,000 gay men were incarcerated in concentration camps, and while the exact death rate is unknown, scholar Ruediger Lautmann believes it could have been as high as 60%. Today, however, the symbol has been reclaimed as a symbol of Pride and fighting oppression. After the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power (ACT-UP) was founded in 1987, it used an inverted pink triangle as its logo. They probably didn't know. I mean, stripes is a common design. A triangle is a common shape. Like, the pink triangle on top of the stripes. I've been pictures of the two side-by-side and they're practically identical. If it was just the pink triangle, I don't think anyone would be complaining as the symbol's been reclaimed by the queer community (which is why the BTW video didn't get slammed like this). I think it was, however, the triangle was turned upside down. Yet, to manufacture a pink triangle, upside down or not, with a grey stripes background is a bit insensitive. The problem is the fact that the design is an exact replica of concentration camp outfits worn during the holocaust. Also, I think it's weird that you'd wear a tapestry. Yes, but it's not just the pink triangle causing a stir here(I'm sure people would have been okay with that), it's the pink triangle on a stripped outfit resembling what prisoners wore at concentration camps. So just posting pictures of Gaga in a pink triangle makes no sense as it's not really the full issue here.
