Guest
From the last artRAVE in Paris: When I wrote this album, I wanted to create something full of joy. A celebration. Something that took all my mess and all my pain and turned it into the most beautiful, schizophrenic, psychedelic dance full of color, loud electronic music, the most outrageous fashion. Something nearly impossible to follow, like my heart, like my mind: a runaway train. Something I couldn't keep control of. Sometimes we constantly run away from ourselves to keep up with the universe, but with this album, I felt free. And if you love ARTPOP, you have no idea how we are so similar. Do you think this quote is the best or most accurate description of what the ARTPOP era ended up being? I think it's the most spot-on thing she ever said about the album and era tbh. Do you guys think it sums up the era that we ended up with?

monsterdreams 1,529
I love that! Perfectly describes the wacky wonderful era Haters gonna need more than a flashlight for my shade
Mythos 3,199
I would have loved if the album was like she explained it, but imho its nothing like that. The Era was messy, and hard to fallow, but album was different.

The Era was messy, and hard to fallow, but album was different. That's what I like about the quote though; she's saying exactly what you said. She talks about all of the things she wanted in the beginning, but then she acknowledges that it was nearly impossible to follow and became something she couldn't keep control of it. Guest
Yes , her speeches The ones during these show were especially great. This one and the one right before Swine about relying on your talent and hard work to get you to the top are two of my all-time favorite Gaga speeches. lindongardon 25
The album is a mess. The whole era is a mess. Idg why Gaga keep insisting that it's a wonderful, joyful album. Can she just admit that the album is a failure, in terms of quality and quantity. It's her worst album to date. Sorry if im going to offend some of you by my opinion but that's how i feel. Meanwhile, C2C is fixing the mess ARTPOP had given. Really glad that she's happy now. Hope to see her more singing jazz songs.
DontDoubtDavid 1,194
I don't think she felt free at all. This era was when she was at one of her worst. I think about that depression art she got into...
Psychedelic 1,098
Never really payed much attention to that speech before :air: It all makes sense now :air: :air: ARTPOP finally has a meaning Yes agree, let me see if I got it right... It's like throwing paint on a canvas ramdonly but doing it from the heart, and appreciating the colors, flaws and beauty of the outcome, because whatever that is, it came from your soul flowing with the universe. Staryu 6,162
Yes! and I mean, of course that the era could have been so much more, but what we got was still wonderful imo.

I think she was talking more about the creation of the album, like she felt free when she was writing it, not during the era.
