Robinladen 1,527
The vma's is not really a show where you perform a non-single. And she had to accept three awards during the show, with the costume changes it might have been to hectic to also do a performance. With the 2012 Grammy's she already performed her nominated song and her latest single at the nomination concert. And the title track was already performed the year before. So what would she have performed hmmm.
elijahfan 25,943
2012 she performed at the nomination concert '2011' Right. And she basically stopped promoting BTW totally when 2012 kicked in. The NY Eve show at Times Square was most definitely conceived as her last promotional effort for BTW. AlexanderMagno 10,746
In my opinion, she just didn't need to perfom at the 2010 VMAs. She won everything, it was one of the most iconic VMA of all time and one of the biggest nights of her career... And she was able to do that without a performance. I admire that so much, truly shows how phenomenal she was.
elijahfan 25,943
She pretty much started the blackout at the start of 2012. I'm confident she wouldn't have even attended the Grammys that year if she wasn't up for AOTY. She didn't even walk the carpet. Exactly.
Gaga Ate My Ass 173
She didnt perform at 2010 vmas because shenthe show wouldve been too much about her and she didnt perform at 2012 grammys cuz the btw era ended, ppl were getting tired of her and she was mourning the death of her awards getting devoured by adele hence why she wore a veil like if she was attening a funeral. xoxo cupcakke 4,781
I feel Gaga didn't go through with the 2010 VMA because she didn't want to be pressured into topping ha iconic Paparazzi performance the year previous. She also didn't really have anything to perform except maybe Dance in the Dark if she would have made it a worldwide single instead of giving it a limited release As for the 2012 Grammys, the Born This Way era was pretty much over so what else was there to do except to unknowongly wait to break your hip? VFD 57
I don't see a problem with her not performing that often at the VMA's or Grammy's. Makes them all that more special. Besides, she has to play her cards right for when an actual opportunity arises, such as the start of a new era. 2010 was Gaga's year, anyway.
BillieGOAT 5,216
Maybe she just wanted to go and enjoy the night
ByeBye49 161
She was probably just busy with other things and didn't plan a performance for 2010, but it was her night anyway. Not sure about 2012.
Guest
The 2010 VMAs was months after Alejandro and months before Born This Way. She had nothing to promote. Marry the Night was already dead by the time the Grammys came around in 2012. There was no reason for her to take up a spot in the main show performing a song that has already reached its peak. That's probably why she took/they gave her the slot in the nominations show.
