The answer Tony gives when he is asked who he's looking forward too though. He's obviously completely clueless about any of the performers  :air:

"Same thing"

:toofunny: he's so cute omg.

Gaga knows her shiz. I'm so glad Beck won too tbh. His album is amazing!! Definitely deserves the AOTY imo. I'm not really a Beyonce fan so I couldn't say that she deserved it as well as I haven't heard her music but I think the accusations of Beck "stealing" the grammy is beyond ridiculous. Beck's album is a non-commercial masterpiece and I'm so so happy that it has been recognised.

EDIT: I should probably point out that I highly respect Bey for her talent (singing and dancing etc), that is undeniable. I just personally don't like her music. She slays Halo though... and Telephone  :derpga:

I've listened to both albums tonight..  Either could have won and been fine.

Bey's album is deeply personal.  It's about being in a marriage and the love and jealousy and problems where you want to bail, the deep passion, the realization you were in a relationship before you knew yourself and becoming strong in the relationship and the the shifting of dynamics, etc.  Her voice is so unbelievable on this album.  It took my breath away in places.   She is definitely the best voice of this generation.  It's not a commercial album in that many songs  are not immediate with hooks at all or big melodies at all, but some are really great songs more commercial but still beautiful production.  Haunting is some of Bey's best work ever.

Con.  Too many songs that meander and have no lift in melody at all.  The lyrics are interesting enough but the melodies stay too flat and so I find myself getting bored in places.  Yet you can't help but be impressed with her growth and her willingness to open herself up and create this type of album about the complexities of a long relationship and also having a child.

Beck

With headphones on, it's glorious in soundscape, like a breathtaking watercolor with the layered vocals, synth, acoustic guitar, and orchestral in places.    You get lost in this album and have to be in the mood for  it as it's a slow album bu cohesive as he wrote and composed this album completely by himself..

Part of a review:  At its core, Morning Phase is a record about what to do when the world seems totally f****ed. Irony doesn't cut it anymore; truth, beauty and resolve are the best weapons. "Looked up this morning/Saw the roses full of thorns/Mountains are falling," Beck croons with falsetto swoops on "Morning," then asks, "Can we start it all over again?" He could be referring to a crashed relationship, or a trashed ecosystem.

Both albums are deserving because they truly created a strong  body of work.  But somehow Beck's album just flows for me and takes me into another dimension if I'm in the mood for that.  Bey's I stall out on a couple of places.

So I give my pick to Beck.  It's an album I would go back to listen to again and again.
