Jesse Pinkman 4,660
Most pop stars during Gaga's debut played it safe and traditional. Gaga made "crazy" and "outlandish" cool again. She was a breath of fresh air. It's science, bitch

Koreku 2,387
She brought the idolization of fame to a whole new level Notice how when gaga faded out a bit, all of them went back to being basic. :toofunny: You don't deserve a point of view if the only thing you see is you. Brooke Hoegan 1,018
Her visuals, not as much now, but definitely for years. G.U.Y. is a bloated video, with cheeziness. But earlier videos, magnificent, as were her all of her visual in every area of her career. The electronic pop nature to her songs. Amazingly crafted pop songs when she came out with The Fame//The Fame Monster. She had a way with lyrics, not your usual pop lyrics in so many of her songs. Yet, there was still such heart to her music. The melodies and hooks and soundscapes to the songs were out of this world. Her vocals weren't sugary sweet vocals. She had a very strong sound to her vocals. She was very unique in delivery and how she chose to enunciate and deliver her lyrics and in many songs had a bad-ass delivery. Her story line to her concerts, taking people on a journey, such theatricality. Her changing looks were exciting in the first few years. People are kind of over it now because she does it to such a degree they are numb to it. But those first few years, it was exciting to see what she was going to do next, and had a great team executing her looks. I think mystery is important and exciting. When you bombard people with it, changing right and left, not even cohesive with it, after a while it's not that interesting, except for hardcore fans. She was different in every way to any other of her pop peers or the pop landscape in general for years, but above all she had the great pop songs to back it up. I had just been listening to early music this morning, so it was easy to recall back why she was fresh and what she brought.and how she shook up the pop industry in in a massive way. The impact was huge. what a great post what a shame many things you mentioned "has been" like that and are no longer present and I bolded - what she has to finally realize, in case she would read this thread ... XoXoJoanneGaga 629
This sums it up pretty well lol. But I would say she has little to no impact on the pop world today.

Perfect post Anyone who wasn't following her in the early years may not know all of this, but she really was not letting anyone else in pop music breathe for like 2 years straight. She raised the bar so damn high for visuals, songwriting, performances, you name it... And she had such a level of perfectionism to everything she did that hasn't been present in the last couple of eras. She kept topping herself relentlessly over such a short period of time, the industry truly could not keep up and no one could beat her at her own game. It's not surprising that this couldn't last though, and that the industry turned away from her brand of pop.

It turnt out godly, but eventually broke her hip. I think her signature shtick will always be being avant garde in public's eyes. The idea of being every icon has destroyed her because it drawn her out of her own legacy. Like, all other pop girls have some kind of signature features that will never go away, while Gaga left her early and mid times style completely behind. On one hand she has a right to do so, because people change and she should feel comfortable. However on other, it all makes TF and TFM times less legendary and genuine than they were. Crazy imaginery and fantasy is what she brought to pop, I wonder if she will bring it back next time around.

Crazy imaginery and fantasy is what she brought to pop, I wonder if she will bring it back next time around. True, I mean she obviously got lost in her own concepts for a while and everything became very convoluted and nothing stuck anymore. But even if she were to bring that same brilliant imagery from the start back to the table I don't think it would fit in the current pop landscape. You see how all the other pop stars toned down their looks in the last couple of years while still remaining identifiably themselves, that's probably what Gaga will do as well. It'll be interesting to see if she can tone down her looks while also serving next level, cohesive visuals again and really getting people interested in her. Regardless I'm sure we're going to see a major overhaul and re-imagining of the 'Gaga' brand.
ByeBye49 161
Making Pop Dance music trendy again for the new decade to the point it becomes overkill today and people getting sick of it and choose to take simpler route and more organic sounds again, as of early of 2015. Queen of predicting what she will want in the future.
