Weasel 12,525
You just make stuff up, just to be negative. "All" of the performers are not Pop, not even close. Beck & Chris MartinSam Smith & Mary J. Blige Brandy Clark & Dwight Yoakam Herbie Hancock, John Mayer & Questlove with Ed Sheeran & Jeff LynneEd Sheeran Juanes Lang LangSia AC/DC Tony Bennett & Lady GaGa Eric Church Common & John LegendKaty PerryAriana GrandeHozier & Annie LennoxJessie J & Tom Jones Miranda LambertAdam Levine & Gwen StefaniMadonna Rihanna, Paul McCartney & Kanye West Usher Pharrell Still a majority. Also, I don't know which part you see as negative? I only feel like many watchers of the Grammy awards are pop fans watching their fave perform...? Whispering 18,865
Still a majority. Also, I don't know which part you see as negative? I only feel like many watchers of the Grammy awards are pop fans watching their fave perform...? Mary J Blige isn't Pop. Hozier is more Alternative Rock. Annie Lenox? Not exactly current Pop music. ;) Tom Jones is Country. Kanye West isn't Pop, but he will be performing on one Pop song, and then doing a solo Rap song. Usher is primarily an Urban artist at this time. When you look down the list, there is more country, R&B, Rap, Urban, HAC and AC than POP. Not a majority! You couldn't be more wrong concerning the general audience. The Grammy audience includes way more people in demos outside of tween/teen girls and gay guys obsessing over their diva of choice. People who don't even listen to any kind of popular music watch the Grammys, because it is an event that has artists, young and old, from all kinds of genres of music. The median age for viewers is 45.2 years. This isn't the MTV awards!
Bradley 59,323
Lady Gaga is also an A-list pop/jazz star, don't speak as if the artists are way above Gagz. Second, I remember how Gaga overshading almost every performer at the AMAs in 2013, Do What U Want literally outshaded Rihanna's Diamonds performance and Rihanna was even awarded something huge (like the Video Vanguard Award at the VMAs, I just forgot what it was called). So have some faith. Cause Beyonce isn't even performing her own songs, she's doing a medley with some other artists. Katy's performing By The Grace of God, Rihanna with FourFiveSeconds, basically everyone including Gaga is doing mid-tempo songs.
giskardsb 12,565
Music is not a competition. The fact that pop fans make it one is unfortunate and harms the industry. I hope they all do well and prove that there is life in the business.

skaxboy 5,800
I think Gaga will be talked about in a positive way. She will be praised for being low key and toning down the crazy outfits. I often hear people say that they know she has talent but the theatrics take away from her. I just hope those same people will be impressed so in a subtle way she will be outshined by the huge theatrical pop numbers. I don't think Rihanna's song can be performed extravagantly and Katy will be ok. But I think Madonna will show them all how it's done.
