elijahfan 24,898
Since there doesn't seem to be a thread about it, I think it is time for me to tell you about Goldfrapp, a band composed with members Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory. They are very discreet and have never sought global success - yet, you probably have heard their music somewhere before. The 2 of them have written and produced their albums on their own for the past 15 years, and they have shaped how pop music evolved throughout the 00s. Some even believe they are the inventors of the electropop subgenre. Christina Aguilera made a recording session with them for her Bionic album, even though no material from those sessions saw the light of day, and Madonna is said to be a fan, some of her American Life era looks being pretty clearly inspired by Alison Goldfrapp. You guys may have heard of them a few years ago when they produced an official remix for Judas, that ended up on the BTW: The Remix album. They are nominated at this years' BRIT Awards in the producer of the year category, and I think the time has come to recognize their talent and influence on the pop world. They are, to me, some of the most gifted musicians on Earth today, and the "ARTPOP" concept has never been more relevant than with these 2. What's incredible with this band is that they've been able to deliver brilliant pop songs in an array of extremely different genres - they don't have 2 albums that sound alike, and their talent in reinvention is the reason that keeps their fairly modest but faithul fanbase on their toes. I've made here a selection of songs that best represent the sound of each one of their albums - please, take the time to watch and listen, I'm quite sure many of you will become fans and be glad you entered this thread - LOVELY HEAD, first single ever, from album FELT MOUNTAIN (2000) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tmz0QaDNnfc - STRICT MACHINE, from album BLACK CHERRY (2003) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YeawPUpTHJA - OOH LA LA, from album SUPERNATURE (2005) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uco-2V4ytYQ - A&E, from album SEVENTH TREE (2008) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7Ptai9I6eo - ROCKET, from album HEAD FIRST (2010) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJppnG1tflU - DREW, from album TALES OF US (2013) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCzoTQqEoFg

UrethraFranklin 434
I saw the Tales of Us film and was absolutely floored by it. I'm obsessed with Annabel, Drew, Laurel and Thea. In all though that whole album is f-cking genius. I love to just drift away and listen to that album.

Which doesn't make any sense, because their latest release dates back to 2013, and they've basically toured since.....
