Gaga will always be "messy".

There's a difference between being "messy" and actually having a strategic marketing plan for your album.

I think there's an inherent discrepancy in what some of you think gaga is and what gaga thinks of herself. I believe that she's an artist, a creative and artistic person, with a vision for the future of music and the future of the world. She takes her art seriously. She has integrity. And people like that are not business people. They don't have a plan, and they don't want a plan. They do not believe in "strategic marketing". They believe that people will come to you, if they want it. And if they don't, that's ok as well.

Releasing the DWUW would have been a marketing coup and dare I say would have helped become DWUW one of Gaga's best selling singles. But she didn't. Because she thought the video was **** and that it did not deserve a release. Gaga has a backbone, and I'd rather have her that than a hit single or hit album.

Well if she wants to be messy then she needs to go beg her label to drop her so she can go independent. She signed a contract, she's a mainstream artist and it's not cute to be "messy" when you have such a large following. I think the next era will be cohesive like TF/TFM. If she hasn't gotten the memo by now... RIP

That major label is very happy with their profits from Gaga...messy or not! She still had a top 10 selling album Worldwide and a "side-project" that sold a million albums Worldwide. Then there is the top 10 tour and all the merchandise from that tour and the additional "smallish tour" that's going on now that looks to have high ticket prices, so the gross per show is going to make everyone happy!

The label isn't going to complain about messy, if they are making this kind of money! :) Gaga is still one of their top artists!

I'm sure the label starts out with one. Then **** happens. ;) Strategic Marketing is probably the last thing on Gags mind.

Just because you posted this she'll rebel and start the most well-coördinated era ever.

omg yes I agree so much I never get when people say they want perfect planned eras like TF and TFM :laughga:

They were never perfect planned ..... FYI the promo single BDR actually was intended to be the follow up to Just Dance and when it did not took off at the start Gaga/her team reacted fast and switched it with PF and pinned BDR as promo single :smh: back then Gaga wasn't just big enough and didn't had big following and no one really cared about that tbh

When she was supposed to start a tour with Kanye in 2009 The Fame Kills Tour - but that got canceled and the majority will say that that was due to Kanye's infamous VMA scandal BUT was it really that or this was just enexpected convenience to cancel a coming tour which was performing really bad in terms of ticket sales and the on demand interest or the lack of it :smh: it was just that kanye's VMA scandal was that big that Gaga/her team pinned the cancelation on the scandal and that Kanye was going to take a year off of music and no one cared if the tickets weren't selling.

BBB was supposed to be the 5th single off TF but Gaga rushed released BR cut short TF era and started TFM era.

DITD was supposed to be the 3rd single off TFM and literally days before the song was going to be announced as single Gaga fought with Interscope for Alejandro, hence the release of DITD in some countries around the world.

Monster was supposed to be the follow up to Alejandro but Gaga wanted to start the launch for the new album.

EACH of Gaga's eras were messy it wasn't until when there was no good/not satisfied outcome from it that people started seeing them as messy eras :thetea:

I definitely agree, but I think the difference is that although TF & TFM were messy as far as behind the scenes goes, the last minute switches and changes were well executed for the most part.

ARTPOP on the other hand was just a mess at least 80% of the era. You could tell that Gaga wasn't in a good place mentally to properly deal with all of the drama and changes.

It's science, bitch
