Yes he does. The artist performance (their voice) gets recognized along with what the producers did.

Yeah I Googled it as soon as I posted, I thought I might've been slightly off, thanks for the correction! It's SOTY that isn't awarded to the performing artist, I knew it was one of them.

Let's celebrate the fact that a talented and commercially successful gay man just received the highest honor awarded in his field…and not be bitter assholes about it.

Congratulations Sam!

That's the thing SKANK. Should I be happy because he's GAY and won? Or be sad because he didn't DESERVE to win and he did? Sia was the worthy contender, and I dislike the s-xuality excuses.

Ray you have won my respect. :applause:

Oh, so now gagz is glamorizing the ability to make previously pressed pop girls say yaas

You don't deserve a point of view if the only thing you see is you.

Ok Sam deserved it as much as Sia.

I am so happy a openly gay male artist, so young and new, received so much acclaim and recognition.

SLAY SAM!

SLAY GAGZ!

Record - Pretty much everyone.

Song - Songwriter/s.

In practice, the voters usually make having 2 categories redundant.

2015 Grammies - white guys with boring music won out over blacks and women for big awards.

The voters are still big on alternative rock, while the public has moved on. Typical awards timelag.

All big awards are apples/oranges comparison between genres anyway. After Daft Punk won, it was indie rocks turn again.

I think it's fair enough to debate that one song should've won over the other but there's no need to put down an artist's success in a particular category in an attempt to boost your case

That's what I was thinking. When has a gay man, who was out at the beginning of his career, received so much positive validation for his artistry and talent? We should be celebrating this accomplishment. Despite the fact that we have a long way to go, we've come a long way in the past few years!

Biggest winners:

Sam Smith

Beck

Lady Gaga

Biggest Losers:

Katy Perry

Taylor Swift

Beyonce

What makes beyonce the biggest loser? She won a Grammy already and she's going to perform. If that's biggest lowser, then I guess gaga belongs in the category too.

You don't deserve a point of view if the only thing you see is you.
