Her vocals are dull in the album version, but imo it wouldn't have made a difference to the song if it was released as a single, both would flop

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn

the album version is WEAK

meanwhile the demo version is POWERFUL, EMOTIONAL

I deleted the studio version and put the demo version instead in my itunes

Yes, a lot. If it ever got any successful people would remember it by the chorus and not the verses so the difference wouldn't have affected it's success really.

Well the vocals are quite different, I don't think there's any difference in the production is there? I haven't compared them in ages.

When it comes to single potential, most people don't want to hear Gaga screaming at them in a satanic voice about being a wandering slave. Did you all forget about Judas? It's insane that people think the song would have been a hit.

To me the difference is pretty clear.

To me the demo version it's the best song of ARTPOP and it could have smashed.

it's a pretty audible difference (the vocals are different), however it wouldn't have "smashed" or "slayed" on radio no matter how much anyone on here swears it would've.

She ran into the same issue with MTN, we all have our own ideas about why it underperformed, but I attribute it to being TOO metaphorical and while Aura is more in your face with its imagery, I'm not sure it would've resounded too much with radio.

Some of them do exaggerate sometimes, but the demo version is better than the album version in my opinion just because of the first verse. Yeah, it may be just "a verse" but it's the verse that introduces the song and it sounds way better in the agressive, raw way that she sang it in the demo than in the kinda bored way that she sang it in the album version. When I first heard the demo I was overwhelmed by the energy of it, it was really fresh to me.

I do have my theories, I guess Interscope asked (told) Gaga to change something in the song because it leaked as the demo/unfinished version (maybe it wasn't unfinished at all  :teehee:) and she changed the first verse and added some extra harmonies in the last chorus.
