We can all agree that she is not racist. So what is the problem here? Insensitivity? Grow up. Gaga and Madonna both use vaguely offensive political and religious imagery in their art. Mahatma Gandhi rising from the dead via Mind Craft is probably offensive to some individuals. Madonna's altered images of Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela are probably offensive to some individuals. I'm not wading into this but "Privilege" =/= Straight privilege. Everyone has layers of privilege of their own (that they either acknowledge or don't acknowledge) unless you happen to be a poorly educated, poor Trans, lesbian, Middle-Eastern or South African (immigrant) woman. I have white, straight privilege (as well as relative wealth, I'm middle class). I lack male privilege. That's all Gender Studies and LGBT Theory 101. ;) It's even basic Sociology.
