There are a few facts here: 1: Bad weather (see the weather map) 2: Pilot asked for clearance to descend due to bad weather/turbulence 3: Marine is looking for them in the ocean (which they wouldn't do if it just detoured). It's 99% clear what happened and why it happened, let's not drag random **** into this, the story is sad on it's self. Rest in peace to the 161 people on board.
