I would actually be open for discussion if you didn't make a joke about a disease that has taken or is taking a handful of my loved ones away. Go **** yourself. You really are the scum of society. bigpinkenergy 1,015
The post I replied to ended with "That's how black people are feeling right now." My friend is black. She does not feel that way. Not all black people feel the same way. They are individuals. Sorry. That's my mistake. for example though, my black friend completely agreed with everything Azealia said (when I watched the interview myself it felt like i was watching my friend talking) and I see loads of other people agree too. I guess what he should've said is that's how *those* people of colour are feeling right now.

I'm really tired right now and angry at the thread so I typed that in a rush. I think people are more focused on my replies and how I worded them and not the issue I'm trying to address and convey, sadly.

DrewStevens 5,249
'Our culture'... Will.i.am is not part of hip hop. He is black though so if that's what he means then cool I guess. I don't really think he's educated or versed enough in the issue to comment. He's probably just supporting her because she's successful. It's still his culture. Just because he decided to experiment with a different sound doesn't mean he has no right to claim his culture. The music is not the problem here. Also his last two singles are Electro Hop so he is still making hip hop music.
ELECTRAHEARTPOP 93
I've always known why Azealia feels so strongly about the issues she does, but from the way y'all have reacted to my valid points in this thread, now I know how she feels on Twitter. Also his last two singles are Electro Hop so he is still making hip hop music. Okay but he's not actually being compared to hip-hop acts like Iggy is (and Azealia, but she is rightfully a hip hop artist). He's not experiencing the discrimination that Azealia and other black artists (many of whom have voiced their agreement, please not) are.
craig 680
Because the culture has accepted decades of appropriation to the point that they feel like they don't even own anything. They feel it would be useless to have this discussion because it leads to people like you undervaluing the issues that was because she combined blatantly separate parts of each Asian culture and tried to present it as Japanese -_- Japan is known for borrowing like crazy from other cultures, often with imperfect understandings of what they borrow. So why would they be offended if Americans who admire their culture borrow from them?

craig 680
You made light of cancer. You are scum. My dad died of cancer. My sister and brother survived it. But that metaphor using cancer for ignorance didn't bother me one bit.
