Congrats Taylor

She deserves it so much, this was obviously and without question the BEST album of 2014. I hope her era will be a complete success and it will be remembered. And I hope she will have her TFM sized era after this

When will our fave :fat:

4 million white little girls and their moms… It's the same public that buys Frozen and Prism. I'm not surprised! :laughga:

Can you not even embarrass yourself here though :rip:

And the mom demographic and the teen girl demographic and the non-straight boy demographic and the closeted fan demographic of straight boys. :fan:

don't forget the white college girl demographic.

Taylor's got all the bases covered. You can never go wrong with Vanilla Ice cream. HA POWUH

Can you imagine the SLAYAGE if she has an even more successful era after 1989 :air: :air:

I think for the next album she will stay about the same in the US but reach Katy/Rihanna levels internationally. She's nicely getting there now, this being her first pop album and all.

who will love me when the night is over

There are so many artists here accused of being "vanilla," "pandering to a kiddie fan base," or "being beyond basic"

None of these other girls can pull albums with a 76 on Metacritic, be loved by literally everyone, sell almost 6 Million WW, and have their album on endless "best of" critics lists

What makes Taylor so special?

Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

Adele 21?

nope. 21 was a global event. 1989 is local

but grats on tay's team for yet again another successful album.

Adele 21?

Don't think that's possible.

Even so, this accomplishment is very impressive! Congrats to Taylor!

She's sold at least 2 million outside the US so far with 1989. How is that local?

Well, let's compare some stuff.

Gaga's BTW has sold ~2.4m in the US and 4m elsewhere.

Lana's BTD has sold ~1.3m in the US and 3.5m elsewhere.

That's global. 1989's number are a bit local (not as local as self-titled, though), but that's still beyond impressive and this is an undeniable slayage. Congrats to her, she totally deserved it
