Mills 446 Posted January 22, 2015 Author Share Posted January 22, 2015 Updated the lists.  Highlights:  -Taylor Swift has just made yet another chart history as she scored her 5th consecutive album to cross the 4 million mark in pure album sales for "1989" (a first among females in SoundScan history, second overall after Garth Brooks), and her third for the current decade, w/c is yet another first in history.  Here are the top 5 best-selling SoundScan-reported albums of the decade so far (2010-present):  1. 21 (2011) - Adele - 11.027 million (as of Nov. 28, 2014 via @chartnews) 2. Recovery (2010) - Eminem - 4.622 million (as of Oct. 30, 2014 via @chartnews) 3. Speak Now (2010) - Taylor Swift - 4.4 million (as of Nov. 11, 2014 via Billboard) 4. Red (2012) - Taylor Swift - 4.1 million (as of Nov. 11, 2014 via Billboard) 5. 1989 (2014) - Taylor Swift - 4.036 million (as of Jan. 21, 2015 via @chartnews)  -More great news for Taylor Swift this week, she has now also tied Adele's overall weeks at #1 on Radio Songs as she scores her 14th week at the top of the said chart for "Blank Space". With this, Taylor places herself among the top acts with the 5th most weeks at #1 this decade.  Here are the top acts with the most weeks at #1 in the 2010s so far: 1. Rihanna - 50 weeks / 9 #1 songs 2. Bruno Mars - 25 weeks / 5 #1 songs 2. Maroon 5 - 25 weeks / 4 #1 songs 3. Katy Perry - 21 weeks / 7 #1 songs 4. Pharrell Williams - 19 weeks / 2 #1 songs 5. Adele - 14 weeks / 3 #1 songs5. Taylor Swift - 14 weeks / 3 #1 songs  -And if this week couldn't get any better for Taylor, she has also surpassed Katy Perry on Streaming Songs as the artist with the third-most weeks at #1 after "Shake It Off" returns to the top spot this week, extending her overall reign to 10 weeks from her 2 #1 hits off "1989".  -Aside from Taylor, Bruno Mars has also made chart moves this week as he extends his overall stint at #1 on the HOT 100 to 20 weeks. It was one of three arrivals in the top 10, which also boasted bows from Kidz Bop Kids' Kidz Bop 27 and Mark Ronson's Uptown Special. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the week's most popular albums based on their overall consumption. That overall unit figure combines pure album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).  Let's take a closer look at some of the action on the chart:  -- Taylor Swift, 1989 - No. 2 -- Taylor Swift's 1989 sold its 4 millionth copy in the week ending Jan. 18, as the set's cumulative sales rose to 4,036,000 in the week. (It sold an addition 92,000 copies in the frame ending Jan. 18.) Each of Swift's five full-length studio albums have now sold at least 4 million.  Her biggest seller is 2008's Fearless (6.9 million), followed by her self-titled debut (5.5 million), 2010's Speak Now (4.5 million), Red (4.1 million) and then 1989. In total, Swift has sold 27.1 million albums in the U.S.  1989 is the first album to sell 4 million copies since Swift herself did it almost exactly a year ago with a different album.
