FKAJAKE 5
why is it always the white people that say 'WHY ARE WE BRINGING RACE INTO THIS???' lmao
sampool 5,560
Remember when iggy tried to convince people and was a super black female rapper ;) Iggy might talk as a black, but she doesn't act or dress ghetto, that b---h got her 'white' blond on with the high fashion outfits like if she came out fresh from a Versace runway. And that's why people are pressed cuz they doesn't want that white blond to represent rap culture; it was never about her music, special since nicki minaj released 'jokes' as I call them, like starships & PTA. And nicki is pressed, cuz she mocked Iggy early this year now that Iggy got 4 grammy nominations she's afraid that Iggy would win & would put Nicki in an embarrassing place, so I was easier for her to call the grammys racist in an indirect way to prevent herself b4 the tea get clocked. Not a mention her conversation is irrelevant since Beyonce has the most grammy nominations ever + this year nominations were absolutely fair, John legend, Beyoncé, kanye, Pharrell Williams, chris brown, Jay-Z.....etc. got nominated & they're black. so she be looking like a fool pulling the race card alone just because her trashy stuff didn't get nominated. /thread. After incidental exposure to Blacks who succeeded in counterstereotypical domains (e.g., Brown University President Ruth Simmons, Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison), participants drew an automatic inference that race was not a success-inhibiting factor in modern society. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24588089
teo 609
Does music like Anaconda really deserve Grammys though? This. And they're making it like the only music black artist are doing is rap, like the whole article revolves around that.
Robinladen 1,515
I remember this was also discussed for the Oscars last year because of 12 Years A Slave. A lot more white actors win Oscars too. I don't think anyone from the academy really wants to discriminate, but yeah. I don't really know how you could change this. But it's good that it's being discussed.
teo 609
why is this most discussed? why are white guys writing paragraphs about whether or not this is an issue? IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH US. This so much. It's like people feel obligated to show the world that they're not racist? And it ends up looking like you making the issue about yourself, which is as worse as actual racism. Just let the people actually affected by this to do the talking and to be on the front line and support them more subtly.
Paper Planes 340
Nicki has said she's the super black rap goddess? She certainly thinks she's the queen if nothing else, as judged by raps. And obviously she's has bigger problem with race if she's mad at Iggy Azalea for being a white rapper. Just because she has accent when she raps automatically slams her "fake black" or whatever? It's ridiculous, really. delete it fat
DIVA 666
why is this most discussed? why are white guys writing paragraphs about whether or not this is an issue? IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH US. Well, actually I think it has as much to do with white people as it does black people. If the idea is that white people aren't giving ample credit or recognition to black artists, then wouldn't white people play a major role in that equation? Isn't the idea to come together as a community of people of all races, and learn to honor each other's accomplishments equally? I think everyone has a place in this conversation, and it deserves all of our attention, in order to reach the desired level of equality in the music industry. We're all Stronger Together! DIVA 666
no. shut up. you do not get to argue this. it's about liberation of POC from white supremacy. As a human being, sharing this planet with everyone else, I get to argue whatever I wish. Attempting to brashly quiet someone isn't only wasted, it removes the idea of free expression, which is really what makes humanity to special. I get that you're passionate about this subject, but allow everyone a chance to be just as passionate as you are, because it takes the entire world to change it. We all rotate on this blue orb together, so why not listen to what each other has to say? We're all Stronger Together!
Economy 46,988
Does music like Anaconda really deserve Grammys though? I think her music can be fun and all, but does it really present something substantial enough to be considered the best of 2014? I do agree however, that the Grammys do sometimes snub black artists, and I think it's good that Nicki is adding to that conversation. not everyone values the same in music a song to be good quality doesnt have to have deep symbolic meanings s-x is a topic like any other. and obvious lyrics dont make it bad. if a song is catchy and likable, theres other things to consider!!! HANZ 4,380
this is so ridiculous the fact that beyonce has more grammys than madonna, michael jackson, the beatles and mariah carey makes the grammys committee look like a joke My Favs = Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Ricky Martin, AKB48
MonsterOfSpain 8,278
I'm so, so, so tired of the Iggy hate. Of course black people win Grammys. Beyoncé, Jay Z, Kanye West, Rihanna, etc and etc have tons of them. I just don't understand it, Nicki actually got nominated this year for a song with doubted quality.
