omg thank you @GloomGlum I just followed him :wao:

You are Welcome  x

He seems really cool and he and I like so many of the same things too. I was just looking through his tweets again, but it only lets me go back so far, March 31st. I was on there earlier than that. You should follow all of The Dirty Pearls, if you do not already.

We're still breathing, this can't be love

Baby we're trying, shed a few tears more

Oh, we keep on running, just to get caught

And we know this is, exactly what we want,

uh huh ohh

We fear for the best, and hope for the worst (Too happy to be alive)

What love's life's blessed, love's life's cursed (Too happy to be alive)

???

These lyrics are very Me, Is this song hard to come by, by actual recording? I have just been reading the youtube  comments and do not actually know. I LOVE this song, it has been one of my favorites since I have gone through all of their songs. Is it not on any physical recording?

@GloomGlum

Oh, Thank You so much, this one worked for me. I appreciate it. :sara:

I sure wish that the band had put this song out as a single and put it on an album. Did Ville vocal that he was upset about this song getting out as the demo? I feel bad for him, if so.

he seems very happy here in these clips:

I just found these from some fans, can't find specific interview yet...

"Since many of you asked about "Slippery When Dead", the album that we asked HIM's ex- drummer "Patka Rantala"about in our interview with him,so we decided to explain to you what it is.

“Slippery When Dead” was the first title for “Razorblade Romance”. After the release of “Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666”, H.I.M. entered the studio for the preproduction of their upcoming album, “Slippery When Dead” or “Goth N Roll” to see how the new album will sound. The titles were very draft but “Slippery When Dead” won (satirizing Bon Jovi’s “Slippery When Wet”)despite the fact that in the end the album was named "Razorblade Romance". Slippery When Dead” was probably recorded at the end of 1998 and contained some tracks from “Razorblade Romance” in a very early form (possibly different orchestrations, lyrics, etc). Also there is a rumor that in these demos there was no drummer and they were recorded with a drum machine. This is false though, because there was still Patka in the band as a drummer and Antto in keyboards.

The only exception is the song "Too Happy To Be Alive" which is the only one from "Slippery When Dead" that has ever leaked, which is probably from another recording session and has 99% drum machine.

The whole "story" of those unreleased HIM songs is very complicated, because at that time they were changing some of the band members.

Also, the keyboards in "Slippery When Dead" were recorded by Ville. There is a live version of "Join Me" from Ilosaarirock Festival 1998, where HIM play a different version of the song, with different lyrics, as well as "Razorblade Kiss" which was then named "Razorblade Romance"..

We should mention that all of this belongs in the past and Ville is especially "allergic" to old material "leaks" from those days, because it's his opinion that since those songs were never released it means that they were unfinished and weren't ready to be released, which of course is valid.

In a relatively recent interview Ville talked about "Slippery When Dead" and said that he has a copy at his house.

There will soon be rereleases (re-issues) of the first albums with various bonus tracks etc.

So,we hope we'll listen to something interesting and rare from back then."

》Razorblade Romance Demos (Slippery When Dead) (1998) Leaked

It's pretty much all over the internet now, all the DEMO versions of RR are out, they got leaked on a russian social network by a certain Maria Presnetsova. We do not have any responsibility for that.

The original working title for the album was Slippery When Dead a play on the record title of Slippery When Wet by Bon Jovi. The recording sessions for what came to be the album started around mid-1998. The band had wanted to record in a residential studio and the first that came to mind was Rockfield Studios in Wales, England, but they were permanent in their choice after learning the history behind who else recorded in the place as well.

"We had made up our minds that we wanted to record in a residential studio and the first place that sprung to mind was Rockfield Studios in Wales. We had the chance to check it out and when we saw the list of artists who had used the studio we were amazed. Not only that but Black Sabbath had been rehearsing there for their come back tour at the time so to sing in the same vocal booth as Ozzy was something very spiritually uplifting." - Ville Valo 《

One early song known from the many sessions is called "Too Happy to Be Alive." The song features a drum machine in place of a live drummer due to Pätkä's departure. The lyrics and the sound of the song itself seem in-between the transition of Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666 and Razorblade Romance leaning more towards the first. Lyrics from this particular recording were eventually re-heard in the lyrics of "Death is in Love With Us", which was originally titled "666 Medley" and also "666 Revisited."

"I Love You", had been originally brought up to be included on this album after being scrapped on the one prior. "

Join Me in Death" which existed early on from January 1998 and "Razorblade Kiss" were originally written during the same time period and featured a great contrast to the eventually released products. "

Razorblade Kiss" - originally titled as the same name as the album - kept the same verses with slight lyrical changes, but the chorus was different. "

Join Me in Death" had a few of the same verses that later were on the final mixes but one take at the time had a verse after the guitar solo that did not make the final cut of the song. "

I Love You" contains the same lyrics that made the final cut. Oddly enough a lot of the parts on this album were recorded naked.

"Our bass player [Migé] is obsessed with the naked form and it spread through out the band. Many of us chose to record our parts naked. Our keyboard player Zoltan was a little shy at first, but we managed to persuade him into joining us and he ended up recording most of his piano parts like that. Like I say, we spent a lot of time naked in the field outside because we had beautiful sunshine for about 17 out of the 20 days wer were at the studio." - Ville Valo

Upon learning about the new distribution in 2000 of the record to the United Kingdom the band decided to re-recorded three old songs for strictly for the release. The tracks selected were "

...

In Synnin Viemää Ville described some scenes that played through out the band's tired run on this tour:

"To tell the truth I was completely tired. In Hamburg I almost fell down from the stage. After the gig I lied in my hotel room like a completely dead mess, - Ville says. That time we all were ill from each other, but we had to play the gigs. Migé was really ill for a month. I didn't realize myself how close to the end I was, - Ville confesses. - It was Dresden or Chemnitz where a really high hotel was, and we were on the 13th floor. I got completely insane and was about to jump out of the balcony. Linde and Silke ripped me to safety. The hotel's staff came to annoy me and I was close to hitting the hotel's boss."

I just found these from some fans, can't find specific interview yet..

Thank You for finding all of that information there. I have run across some of that in interviews, but not any of it about the demos. I guess we would feel the same way, if we were a perfectionist about our work and a serious musician. Then as fans, we always want it all, no matter!

I find it hard to keep up with a lot of those changes of songs and what was written when and how it changed and where it appeared, but I am slowly getting it straight. I like that the band will have a song held over for so long and keep it and work it over much later and feel like it has a time for it's place to be NOW or feel like, it was missing something and later connect it. I think that is magical and has a lot of sincerity. I like how Ville will write something and include it in connecting songs or almost like, written form of subliminal cause and effect.  like how much of a serious writer and thinker / intellectual he must be about his art and message.

love those~

I did notice that about his lips. I believe that I have heard that that happens as we age. Have you noticed it with anyone else as they have aged? He is still Beautiful.

@‌lego How many times and on what tours or albums have you seen HIM live? Have you gotten up close, front row or met any of them? What has been your favorite song to hear live?

I am just curious about your experience as a fan.

Also, anyone else who has been to the shows.
