What was your status with G.U.Y. before it became a single?

I always knew it was going to become a single because it was and is freaking amazing, it's one of the best tracks on ARTPOP and is arguably my favorite Gaga song along with Judas. Although it flopped, but I am glad it became a single cause of the video and Gaga's taste matching mine.

I saw it as the most basic/predictable song on ARTPOP. Nonetheless, it was clearly one of the most safest/obvious single choices, especially since Zedd was supposed to be the hot new go-to producer, so I was really surprised with how hard it flopped. The messiness of DWUW really ruined whatever momentum this album had...

I didn't really care for it. The chorus is too repetitive, it felt like a basic pop song. I still feel that way but the video made me like it a little more.

Lol whole forum loved it before which made Gaga release this weak EDM/Pop attempt. I thought it was filler on the album since day 1.

Now everyone deny they used to praise it and trash great songs like Venus.

i thought it was a standout from day 1 and loved that it became a single. for me it doesn't have the same longevity as applause, but it's still amazing and has these little elements which make it a typical gaga song

 

but mess at this whole forum for bashing the song after it underperformed :sweep:

literally 80% of people here were praising it to the heavens before it became a single, now it's the other way around

I thought it was pretty awesome. Still do. The lack of promo really did it no favors. It had a catchy chorus and beautiful video. Most of my non-fan friends would tell me they loved it/it was their fave from the album.

Not the best track at all, but definitly a good one that was robbed of its glory lol
