Morphine Prince 109,683
Anyway, this kid was armed and threatened a police officer, so the officer is right. But if the reports about him not receiving medical help are true
Bye 3,947
This. And now that we have video and more information, we find out that the 18 year old pulled a gun on the cop. He was in the wrong, it's on video. It'd be better if he didn't have to die, but if someone pulls a gun on another person you can't claim race is the reason they were shot. I'm actually ashamed that people defending Eric Garner are also defending Martin. We can't point fingers at police who use violence and excuse citizens who do the same. I agree there is a problem with racism and we live in a society where black people have a great disadvantage, but that doesn't mean every instance where a black person gets hurt by the police is one where it's the police's fault. :the voice of reason
Kayla 7,595
Police are starting to pepper spray the crowd. The scene is getting chaotic https://vine.co/v/OHBjr5Fq0hl Also bear in mind: The latest police shooting attracted a crowd of about 300 people to the Mobil gas station where Martin fell, and about 50 officers were called to the scene, some of whom used pepper spray on the people there. On this occasion the Swat team was kept on standby and tear gas and flash bangs were not used – a conscious effort on the part of police, Belmar said, to learn from the lessons of Ferguson. The police chief said that three “explosive devices†had been let off by individuals in the crowd, which he described as an “amalgam of fireworks that were packaged up and lit. It’s disturbing when it happens directly by a gas pump.†This is one instance where I think people saw "Black teen killed" and immediately blame the police before getting information and now they're still pointing fingers at the police. The mayor is black and the police force is ALSO "predominantly black." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2886025/Black-teenager-shot-dead-police-close-scene-Michael-Brown-killed-Ferguson-Missouri.html http://www.cnn.com/2014/12/24/justice/missouri-officer-involved-shooting/index.html?hpt=hp_t2 I agree with people in the Ferguson riots, I agree with people standing up for Eric Garner, and I agree with the people in this thread acknowledging racism and profiling and the fact that it does exist. I just don't think THIS instance is one that should be used in our fight for equality. It's a poor example because, in this instance, Martin was in the wrong. Anyway, this kid was armed and threatened a police officer, so the officer is right. But if the reports about him not receiving medical help are true Now THIS would be a reason for civil unrest. Kayla 7,595
They need to get gun control on these damn police officers. Is it that hard not to use your stick, taser, or pepper spray on someone. Why do these idiots keep resulting to the use of guns? Yes this kid may have been guilty in a robbery, BUT how does they make it okay to shoot him and take away his life. These cops are taking away lives left and right, now this mother and the rest of this boys family will have a miserable Christmas without him. At first I wanted to deny this was about racism (pardon my ignorance and delusion) and that protesting wasn't necessary, but clearly it is. Another ****ing kid gets shot? Regardless if the teen was crime involved, dropped out of school, and all that you still can't take someone's life. While there's thousands of people out there guilty of murder, child rape and s-xual assault, and exc. these black kids are getting shot for little crimes when they should just be arrested and receive a fair punishment for them. Taking a life for a robbery and not obeying a police officers actions is not a fair punishment. **** these police and **** our justice system that will allow them not to be punished. I want to point this post out because Navy's been getting a lot of **** for supposedly being "racist" over some questionable things he's previously said regarding these issues. This post goes to show that where someone stands on these issues isn't black or white (no pun intended). Not to derail the thread, tho. Just wanted to highlight this. (And if I'm thinking of the wrong person just delete my profile ) Thank you Yes that's me the one who is apparently racist, but yes don't want to derail the thread either. Also, so it's been confirmed now the teen from last night pulled a gun on the cop? If so the shooting is justified then. :(
swine killer 0
I understand the fact that the cop had to do something when he wouldn't lay down for whatever reason, but A) aren't cops supposed to have things like tasers or other things for a situation like that and B) even with a gun, why not either fire a warning shot somewhere away from the individual or shoot him in the leg or somewhere that won't be fatal? Seriously? Aren't cops supposed to be trained for this s***? A random person would f***ing know better than that. There's no reason for this at all. My thoughts are with his family right now. Such a tragic event that's even worse with the added fact that it's Christmas Eve...

Michael 533
****ing disgusting. JeffSwift 314
I just feel like... Yes there is racism in America. Clearly it is alive and well. Black people know that they are treated poorly, especially in the southern states. So, how come not just comply with whatever the Police Officer is saying... it may hurt your ego, it may make you feel like a failure to your own race, but if it saves your life? do it. Why on earth someone would pull a gun on a police officer and not expect them to shoot is beyond me. It is a preventable tragedy, I feel for both sides. One family will be without their son for the holidays, the other will have a death on their conscience.

That cop should go to prison for the rest of his life, but considering recent events he probably will never even go to trial. A ****ing outrage. R.I.P. :( The guy pulled a gun out on him. It's justified and understandable. The cop did what he had to do and he had the right to do so. I still think cops should know to use different strategies from the situations like this that they've been TRAINED to use such as shooting the person in the leg. i just cant...
