the more i think about it the more I realize that Mike Brown is the wrong face for the movement for the issues that need to be addressed.

There are certainly racial issues that keep happening that need to be dealt with, but I don't think this is the one that should lead the movement.  I don't think the officer handled this particularly well, but he was in the eyes of the justice system justified in his action.

However, Michael Brown was walking down the street, he was unarmed, and he was killed 148 ft away from Darren’s SUV. And also, did you see Darren’s "injuries?" He literally had a shaving cut on his chin and claimed that he had been charged at by Michael, and that they had gotten in a “large fight.†I literally have received worse injuries falling down the stairs than what Darren had. Darren has a history of harassing other people and racial profiling (x, x, x, x.). The police in Ferguson are extremely racist and involved with the KKK. Darren Wilson might be involved with the KKK. What do I expect a police officer to do? I expect him to act lawfully and file a police report. Oh, but wait, he went against protocol and did not. In addition, it would be nearly impossible to grab Darren’s gun out of the holster. Also, oh my god!! He robbed the store! Oh wait, here is a video of Michael paying for his cigars/cigarettes. In addition, the store owner said no one called the police and nothing was stolen. Intoxicated on marijuana? That means Michael could not have even been able to react quickly to be violent. Marijuana causes dizziness, shallow breathing, and slowed reaction time. Darren Wilson literally arrested a man just for being filmed. The autopsy found that Darren shot Michael in his arm while Michael had his arms up, then continued to shoot him as he fell to the floor. In addition, Michael was far away from harming Darren. Ferguson protestors have been peacefully protesting, however cops opened fire on them with rubber bullets. This is actually against the first amendment, which allows freedom of speech and the right to assemble. Just in case you are unaware, rubber bullets can easily be lethal and/or cause serious injury. Really, all the eyewitnesses have sided with Darren? Not from all of this evidence (x, x.) No. People of color are killed by officers and face much more discrimination. In fact, they face seven times more discrimination by police officers than whites. NYPD profiling and targeting LGBT*Q people of color. Black students are given much worse punishments in school and in the criminal justice system. Albany Police: SWAT uses a poor black neighborhood to train in because it is “realistic.†A black man holding a wallet is more likely to be shot than a white man holding a gun. Really? Blacks kill blacks? Every twenty-eight hours an African American is extrajudicially executed in the US, almost one African American killed everyday by law enforcement, security guards, and/or vigilantes.

I am not ignorant. I have been doing my research and keeping up with everything that has been happening. Racism is alive and we cannot keep pretending it is not a problem little one. I hope these articles help you out with the misinformation you have been given.

am I supposed to believe the evidence that these rookie crime scene investigators collected or am I supposed to believe what a legitimate police investigation (also conducted by the FBI) determined from a scene of a crime. Granted these people's somewhat thorough look at the pictures makes me doubt the police officers a bit, but at the end of the day, they are basing their facts off of pictures, and the police and crime scene investigators were there at the scene of the crime. It's hard to take these people's word over theirs and so emphatically say the police lied.

Yet, a look at the research suggests the problem of police officers killing unarmed black men is not all about white police forces. In 2002, University of Chicago psychology professor Joshua Correll published The Police Officer’s Dilemma, a landmark study testing racial bias. Correll and his team devised a video game-type experiment in which test subjects were shown images of black and white males, some armed, some not. The subjects had to decide when and when not to shoot.

 

The results speak for themselves. “Participants fired at an armed target more quickly if he was African American than if he was white, and decided not to shoot an unarmed white target more quickly than an unarmed African American target.â€

 

Here’s the kicker, though: Correll found little difference in the willingness (or not) to shoot between black and white test subjects. In 2007, he replicated the study with actual police officers, and came to a similar conclusion: A young black male is as likely to be a target of a black police officer as his Caucasian partner.

I bet you get the same results with men being more fearful of other men. It doesn't mean guys are self-hating misandrists, just that everyone knows men and blacks do engage in violence more frequently.  Crime stats for d--g possession and jaywalking can easily be inflated by bias, but for murder, armed robbery etc not so much.

The issue with crime though is that it's proportionality can somewhat be linked more to socio-economic issues than what race or gender you are.

My understanding is that for violent crime anyway, the three factors of age (15-30 being peak), gender, and race overshadow income. There are low-income groups who for cultural reasons are very law-abiding (Asians immigrants for example).
