Alien Tulip 12,428
I actually agree with the verdict. It's not like he was some completely innocent person or something. He ROBBED a store.....and there's evidence he used force with the officer and tried to gain control of his gun. Did he deserve to die? No, but it ended up being an unfortunate consequence of his actions. Maybe he just should not have robbed that store. I don't think a police officer should spend years in jail for defending himself against someone like this. Smartest post I've read on this thread. I dislike how people always pull the race card when in reality if brown was white I'm sure he would have gotten the same treatment. Of course Mike brown did not deserve to die but he shouldn't have robbed in the first place. Why is it so hard for people to follow the law instead of going against it? What disgusts me more are the boycotters that are causing havoc across st louis and hurting people who had absolutely nothing to do with this tragic event. Going on a rampage and destroying innocent people's business/stores/homes/themselves is not going to solve anything and instead its going to create more drama and no amount of destruction will intimidate the police because no matter how many people are part of the rampage bandwagon, police will always have more power. This will sound wrong but if you're black and you're constantly complaining about inequality with your skin color then stop fitting the damn stereotype. You are making it harder for the ones in your community who want to be taken seriously and get far in life but instead you want to be selfish and retaliate by going through unnecessary rampages and hurting people that did absolutely nothing to you. Why not be above the stereotypes and do sophisticated boycotting like the ones that they don't show. I give props for the people who boycotted without hurting other people. Shadow 6,697
Those who don't have to deal with the tail end of racial profiling will probably not understand the frustration of minorities who deal with unfair law enforcement. Unfair treatment that goes on in this country is so common, the majority are blind to it. I see it when my managers treat fellow co workers of color differently than white workers. It isn't fair to them. Stand in the light, cast your shadow.
E24187 615
Um. The level of stupidity in this post. Then again, it's mostly a white gay forum so there you go. Weren't yall just b---hing about the killed trans woman buried as a man? But she was white. The police officer didn't know Michael stole anything. So there goes that. He went after Mike cuz he was black. Also, the fact that y'all are more concerned about the protesting than the actual death speaks volumes about the type of person you are. and talking about stereotypes is laughable when I look at the gay community. You wanna jack our cause so homos can get married but when the black community gets profiled, you side with whitey.

Alien Tulip 12,428
you guys trying to defend him are disgusting I'm not defending him at all and I actually think he should get life sentenced since he murdered brown brutally with many shots but I also see two sides of the story. Also the boycotting situation is distracting because browns family clearly stated that they didn't want a riot caused after but what happens? A riot is caused and many of the boycotters are destroying property making the actual innocent boycotters look bad and its been confirmed they killed a few people but those few people don't matter right? Because they aren't mike brown.

But she was white. There really is no minority coalition to formed here against the police. Gay bashing is more likely to come from street thugs than the police (recent gay bashing video from New York posted here the perp was a black). Asians have lower crime rates than whites. Feminists spend a lot of time gender profiling "male violence" and wanting tougher enforcement which in most cases would impact black men harder than whites. The street harassment video a couple week ago featured mostly black and brown men, legislation against it would just empower the police to hassle black men more about petty things. Most people were actually having a pretty civil conversation and trying to let everyone have opinions and share their thoughts. It's a process, if you want to get to a place of understanding what minorities are having to deal with. Yes, there are a couple of obvious racists and bigots in every thread like this, but for the most part this thread has been a fairly civil conversation. And why the hell did you bring Gaga and her career into this? If you aren't a Gaga fan of any sorts, why are you even here? TBH, it is people like you who need to GTFO of this forum because all you do is cause trouble without adding to the reason for the forum being here in the first place. pink sushi 4,351
The public is so outraged by this situation because it goes against the norm of we are used to. Let's say that the police officer wasn't so aggressive and Brown knocked him down and got hold of his gun and shot him. Would anyone be like "OMG a black dude shot a white police officer?!?! " It would go unnoticed except in the local media. But turn it around where a white police officer shoots a black guy for what doesn't appear to be enough of a reason to shoot, and you get a national media frenzy and hundreds of rioters.......and people feeling the need to pull the race card as a factor on why he was shot. Yes I meant protestors I always get the two mixed up but that's strange because they said one person was found dead and the other I forgot where but I'm going to see if the channel has posted the article on their website.
