Where was the tear gas here? Where was the National Guard? Are these people THUGS?

Honestly, regardless of whether the officer was justified in shooting Brown, this has turned more into how police react to these situations (by atacking civilians) and how people in general react (which is often racist).

That's part of the reason I haven't really given my opinion on the matter. There's SO MUCH hearsay on both sides, I don't even know what to believe anymore.  :duck:

I'm the same. It's better just to not say anything...

I just want everyone to remember that tasers exist and Wilson just doesn't like carrying them around. So instead of using non-lethal force to control the victim, he used a gun. Literally because he didn't feel like carrying a taser, this kid died.

Your post is a perfect example of the half-truth-half-lie social media posts that are inflaming an already volatile situation. The Ferguson Police Department only has a limited amount of tasers, Wilson chose not to carry one. Had Wilson carried a taser Brown may still be a live, had Brown not tried to grab Wilson's gun he may also still be alive. Stop jumping to conclusions, it's not helping anyone.

Um. The level of stupidity in this post. Then again, it's mostly a white gay forum so there you go. Weren't yall just b---hing about the killed trans woman buried as a man? But she was white.

The police officer didn't know Michael stole anything. So there goes that. He went after Mike cuz he was black.

Also, the fact that y'all are more concerned about the protesting than the actual death speaks volumes about the type of person you are.

and talking about stereotypes is laughable when I look at the gay community. You wanna jack our cause so homos can get married but when the black community gets profiled, you side with whitey.

I already read this. I've been going through the document files. I'm offended by your complete dismissal and mischaracterization of my response. You generally have more integrity than this, SKANK.

You're going to call my post a half-lie? What a complete distortion of his response you've provided.

His answer clearly indicates that it is not generally the quantity of tasers that influences whether or not he carries one, as he states there's generally one available, but it is rather his personal preference to not carry one because it is uncomfortable.

I completely stand by my statement and nothing in it was a lie or even close. I take issue with both Wilson and the Police Department on this. Wilson chose to be comfortable over carrying a non-lethal alternative to guns. It was absolutely his choice and he indicated that. He elected to pass on the taser. That shouldn't even be an option. Every officer should be required to carry a taser at all times. And there should be one for every officer. How telling is it about American culture that lethal weapons are obligatory, but non-lethal weapons are optional and limited? A gun shouldn't be a first line of defense. But even taking away the fact that supplies are limited, Wilson routinely elects to decline the taser despite it usually being available. The fact is that he routinely puts his comfortability over the option of a non-lethal weapon. That's disgusting.

Your post is a perfect example for making excuses for systematic failures that have allowed the police force to become so militaristic with lethal force increasingly being the first line of defense, all the while disproportionately targeting communities of color.

Personally after reading all the testimony and evidence, I do think Darren Wilson shouldn't have been indicted tbh. Mike Brown was in the wrong, and the evidence supports that. However, I'm absolutely in support of the topics of what people are protesting about and to correct the socio-economic/racial disparities especially in the racially divided St. Louis. I just don't think this case/Mike Brown was the right martyr for it because i don't see any race in this particular shooting or instance. I just see that Darren Wilson saw Mike Brown who fit the description of who robbed the store (for those of you saying that's fake, it's not and yes wilson knew about it beforehand), called for backup, and then got attacked by brown, and charged by brown. It's unfortunate that brown had to die but that was a consequence of the situation brown put wilson through and it's brown's fault for agressively attacking a police officer like that.

That being said, I'm in full support of the racial disparities that we have here in st. Louis and am loving what this case did to open our community up to the socio-economic problems we have here and to find solutions regarding them as well as law enforcement relations with communities here.

Well, let's just say that Wilson did had a taser and he chose to use that instead of a gun as his first option.

While I know a persons weight makes no different how a taser affects them, but if you see a big guy (don't mean to criticize his weight..) like Michael Brown charging against you, you would have to wait until MB was really in close range with you until you can bring him down.  I think if I saw him coming at me and I'm a police officer, I wouldn't want to wait until he was say, two or three feet away from me to take him down, I would get the gun and try to shoot him at his leg or something THEN try to use a taser and now I just lost my argument here.  Oh well, I have to take a #2 bye.

I am making NO excuses for the systematic failures of our judicial system, I would never defend the militarization of our police force, and I make no excuse for the poor way that the persecutor handled this indictment. I probably share your opinions on the majority of the issues at hand.

However, when you make statements that claim with absolute certainty (literally) that had Officer Wilson carried a taser Michael Brown would be alive right now, you are not contributing to an honest conversation. You are not clairvoyant, we don't need to make things up to be outraged by this situation. Enough with the hyperbole.

Tasers have a deployment range up to 35 feet. Proximity isn't really an issue.

agree with you but that's what happens when ferguson police department is underpaid and you have other police departments like Ladue (wealthy suburb of st louis) that are definitely overpaid.

Not sure if Tasers are the answer. Police are likely to use them much more than guns, possibly to torture anyone who resists their authority.

Cases like this are far more common, and involve more disportionate force than what happened to Brown:
