GagaSkeletonWay 2,080
It must be just me then No, don't worry it's not just you Right now most of the fan base love Born This Way but during the era everyone bashed the music, the performances, the videos and everything, but the reason is obvious: people here wanted another The Fame Monster chart and sales-wise and Born This Way was far from getting those standards. Why everyone loves it now? For two reasons, (1) ARTPOP performed much worse than Born This Way and (2) everyone has realized that the success Born This Way got was way more than great and that make us take our blindfolds off and see the amazing music we got. This is just in general, of course there were people who loved Born This Way since day number 1, and I include myself in the comments I made but I think the most important thing is that we now appreciate it
VforVendetta 2,024
People hated the weirdness of BTW and the fact that it wasn't as commercial as Gaga;s previous effords, the same they did with AP now. I personally find it to be her best (or maybe ted with AP). Lol everyone's acting like BTW faced no hate from this fanbase. The truth is some monster used to complain about the era and hate it during 2012-13. But when ARTPOP 'flopped' they were like "Omg BTW era was so good!!" Ths. BTW received even more hate than AP during the Era.
angelduuh 481
I don't know about fans, but a lot of people that I know that liked her during TF/TFM stopped liking her with BTW. Thanks to Judas, the BTW video, and they say the album is boring.
crownlessking 158
Born This Slay was the best era. Bitches will stay pressed. There was so much hate for it pre-ARTPOP era and when ARTPOP didn't do as well as some members thought they came crawling back to Born This Way. GagaDragon 10
Because the GP were offended, the music itself was her best!
YeehawKylie 7,817
I was never a huge Gaga fan, but I did like her singles during TF and TFM. I found BTW so preachy and her "gimmicks" so ridiculous that I actually hated Gaga. It wasn't until I listened to ARTPOP on a whim that I actually liked her again, then I listened to all her work and actually became a fan. The album itself is very good, though it does border on being too preachy in my opinion. There's almost too much focus on self acceptance. I actually dislike the title track immensely and I feel as though it does not match the feel and tone of the rest of the album. Had Born this Way been exluded from the album and it been titled after The Edge of Glory or Marry The Night I probably would consider the album perfect. But, I feel like BTW as an era is where Gaga really polarized her image. It all looked to much like a gimmick and made her seem desperate for attention. Pierre 10,480
Her best music work to date is BTW. ❝Is not blue, not turquoise, not lapis. It's actually cerulean❞.
TEANUS 14,966
BTW was her most genius album yet. It truly was ahead of its time (perhaps not sonically, but I feel thematically, lyrically, and politcally). Furthermore, a lot of the songs I feel would do well on the radio today despite not being well received back then. Thus, when Gaga releases her next solo pop album I rather it tops BTW than TF/TFM. As a fan what I hated about the BTW era wasnt the album (music), outfits, performances, or tour but rather the fact that it was the begining of the end of her amazing management team. Starting with Judas is where her management team started making poor single and promo choices. I still cant get over the fact that Sheiße wasnt the second single...or any single for that matter. I just feel that its been quest for Gaga to get the right management after Judas and after a series of unfortunate events (mainly hip injury, firing troy just before album release and series of d--g addiction/depression episodes and long blackouts) she is trying to figure things out with her management. Hopefully Gaga is in a better place mentally and physically and with Bobby on her management team and promising promo/sales/reception from C2C there may be hope for Gaga to recover yet. Plus I think the GP is truly starting to get sick of KP and acknowledges that Gaga has true talent and isn't a madonna ripoff.... so I feel that all these factors are now starting to play in Gaga's favor. This! I really notice a lot of people who LOVED Katy but hated Gaga are figuring out the truth On a serious note I really feel a change coming. I think people are starting to realize Katy's lack of substance in her songs and her repetitive appeal to children/ soccer moms British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS

Computer 10,973
Well everyone bashed it on GGD when ARTPOP was coming up. Supposedly BTW had destroyed everything and ARTPOP was going to be the return to form. Now that ARTPOP has happened you don't see folks hating Born This Way so much. 💚💛💕❣⭕💢💢 | ⓜⓔⓡⓡⓨ ©ⓗⓡⓘⓢⓣⓜⓐⓢ
Dayum 240
Most people on this forum don't like simplistic music. Anything the public can access to is not complicated enough, not deep enough. They think the more the better - more melodic twist = better; more obscure wording in lyrics = better; more foreign language = better … and the list goes on. The truth is, less is more. TF has a set of really enjoyable music. So does TFM. When they debut, they come with a refreshing vibe. And that's what missing for BTW and AP. Even in her fashion. They're just overkill. It's either one extreme or another: Crazy - Normal; Too much clothes - Too little clothes … etc. People claim BTW is meaningful and revolutionary, but I don't see it. It just lightly touches the surface of accepting oneself. I can't find a strong argument, or a point that is really thought provoking. But please do not dig up something that is not there to be found. That does not make the song any deeper. AP is by far the most disappointing. It is the least interesting. She tries to give more variation, but to no avail in exciting the listener. One may argue it is as shallow as TF.
Branson 4
I honestly never see ANY hate for BTW. Honestly, it's not my favorite Gaga album (although it does contain a few of the best songs of her career), but the era itself was FANTASTIC. The performances were absolutely amazing, the tour was incredible, as well as the promo and outfits.

GagaSlayedYou 2
People "hate" it because Gaga couldn't replicate TFM's success, but monsters, after months of blackout, and bashing, understood that BTW is a great album, with quality, and a self-empowering message, which saved some of their lifes.
