I did not understand the hate for Born This Way

People forget about things.

For me personally, the fashion during BTW was mostly awful. The videos were all great though.

A large reason for the hate was that she released You and I and immature fans not realizing that their tastes are not the taste of the rest of the world.

But just like with BTW, the hate for ARTPOP will go away too. And they will hate the next album instead and love ARTPOP and BTW.

Lol everyone's acting like BTW faced no hate from this fanbase. The truth is some monster used to complain about the era and hate it during 2012-13. But when ARTPOP 'flopped' they were like "Omg BTW era was so good!!"

lol ikr??

- First the Born This Way single controversy which haunted Gaga and the way people looked at her.

- Then Judas underperforming, getting zero airplay on the radio, and TEOG being released super quickily with a music video coming out MONTHS afterward.. and that ended up being a huge disapointment.

- The You and I single choice meltdowns - fans were NOT happy.

- Marry the Night flopping.

- The BTW era being cut short

- Fan favorite Scheiße not being released as a single.

- Compared to TF and TFM, her looks were much less polished in a lot of people's eyes, and there was a lot of meltdowns about Gaga making herself look ugly.

People who think the BTW era was flawless must have a short memory span.

It started with Gaga getting hammered with plagerism accusations and then cutting the era shorter then expected.

BTW, and more specifically Hair, h8ers have alopecia and are jealous they weren't the first stop on the epic that was the BTW Ball. Seoul, Korea, can I get a what's up? Also, Heavy Metal Lover kept me awake at 6 am while taking the first train home after 6 hours in the gay club.

I can't at you saying the vocals were better on TFM :smh:

Obviously we are talking about something very subjective, but imo looks, performances, vocals, music was faaaaarrr better in the BTW era. **** success.

The best thing about BTW is the fact that album highlights aren't even the singles released. That's usually a good indicator for an awesome piece of work.

With Born This Way she was able to do a lot more than she could during TF/TFM. She couldn't have released a song and video like You and I where she was a mermaid in nebraska and dressed in drag. She didn't have amazing vocal songs like TEOG.

The Born This Way ball was far superior to the Monster Ball. I'm sorry, but it seems to me like most TFM stans are stuck in the fame/success whirlwind of TFM that was a result of her being a breakout star doing something different at the time.

I loved being a stan during TFM, and the videos are clearly the best work of hers, but other than that BTW destroys TFM. It is far more diverse and a lot more interesting.

Speechless is far more vocally impressive than anything on Born This Way. Look up her performance at the VEVO launch party. You and I was also only released because it was the last single that could be possibly relateable lyrically. Gaga partly confirmed this during that time.

TF was about her being a breakout star. Not TFM. TFM took place over 2 years later. TFM's success had nothing to do with Gaga's breakout. It's hilarious seeing people claim this to try and discredit the era. She would have had her success with TF and then faded if that were true like the other one hit album artists. TFM had incredible music. Bad Romance is critically acclaimed as a musical masterpiece. BTW is inferior in every aspect.

I don't see too much hate for BTW. :rip:

Most people love BTW + TFM, at least from what I have seen.

This. If the post were regarding TF or AP, it would make more sense.

Speechless is a great song, but there are far better songs on BTW vocally. Even the title track is more vocally powerful. What does the reasons behind the you and i release have anything to do with what we are talking about? It's one of her best songs, was completely different from anything she had done before and the video and visual concepts where something completely unique that she hasn't really been able to explore in any other era.

Nobody is trying to discredit the TFM era :smh:

It was part of her breakout though, Paparazzi was really the first moment she had high fashion brands supporting her and big budget videos so that she could really do whatever she wanted. TFM was released with TF, it was originally going to be a re-release. She slightly switched up the sonic formula she had used throughout TF and put more emphasis on choreography but it was still heavily formulaic. This was really just a slight tweak of "TF" Gaga with a bigger budget. It was a part of her breakout era.

With Born This Way, the lead single was her first song in a major key and it smashed, TEOG also had her play around with a major key hit that sounds nothing like the rest of her discography. She had a rock/country ballad with You and I as well as some really awesome experimentation with HML, Schieße, Americano. She managed to really create a cohesive piece of work that contrasted with her previous efforts and allowed her more room to truly experiment in all aspects of her work. That is reflected in the major key hits, the heavy choreography, the ballad released single, the horns, black hair and the mermaid tails.

The choreography during the BTW era is something we haven't seen in any other Gaga era, it was the era that she really let her vocals shine in her single choices and it was the era where she really pushed herself to experiment with new themes, looks and sounds.

The Born This Way Ball, if you had the chance to see it, was far superior to any of her other tours in terms of her theatre. The castle, the stage, the props, the outfits, G.O.A.T. It was an experience like no other.

TF and TFM were fantastic, nobody is trying to discredit these eras but imo BTW was a masterpiece.

Her vocals on BTW as a whole are superior to TFM. Bad Romance is pretty much sung in 5 notes. It clearly didn't matter but she showed much more range and melisma on subsequent albums. Vocally, C2C is her best as of yet. Since TFM, her vocals have only gotten better.

I think generally people look at BTW as the era that not only failed to continue the momentum from TFM and keep the GP engaged, it was viewed an era when some things started going wrong.

Truth be told, any album coming after TFM was going to have its work cut out for it, though.

The only thing I hated was that she broke her hip.

Aint nobody got time to hate on BTW in 2014. Its ARTPOP's turn :food:

Then during the Monster 4 Life era everyone will trash the album and praise ARTPOP :food:

I don't feel I can add much to what has been said. I do think BTW turned the GP off, but oh well. The rockification of You & I was really disappointing to me. Single choices not great overall.

But I never (truly) hated it and still don't.

It suffered from the monster cycle just like ARTPOP is. Delusional, really.

Not when Bad Kids, FOHL, BJAF & BTW are on it

BTW - flawless.

Bad Kids - cute.

FOHL - greatest throwback

BJAF - amazing instrumental, the only song I don't use on BTW.

BTWs good songs are more than the good songs on the other Gaga albums.  BTW has more than 10 masterpieces.  TFM has only 8.  TF has less and ARTPOP has less as well.

But that's just my opinion :nick:
