No. A flop is something that makes a LOSS.

However the era was a MESS, underperformance and it was Gaga's lowest point since the beginning of her career. There is no denying it. Let's just move on :nick:

it isn't a flop, it just is if you compare it to her other successes. It would be almost impossible to recreate that kind of success with every new release.

Taylor is an excemption tho.

It underperformed. Compare it to other albums and it performed practically the same.

Compared to her other albums it was a flop.

In my messy era.

Flop. Once people admit this, you can move on and just accept the fact that not every era will be huge. Being in denial just makes people look silly

It's TOTALLY weird to me how everyone commented about G.U.Y only charting at #76 but seriously nobody talked about X.O (Beyonce's FIRST single) not making it in top 40,Pretty hurts charting out of top 100...

XO has the reasons. It was overshadowed by Drunk in love and the video was about Beyonce going to Disneyland. It cost that much too. :toofunny:

GUY was a huge project that cost so much money and that was advertised by Gaga as the real beginning of ARTPOP. There you have the difference. :later:

Underperformance? yes Huge underperformance? definitely not

Big underperformance is better? :smh:

yes it was in a lot of ways

Maybe in sales it just underperformed but it was closed to flop

but it was a Flop in Quality in Music, Videos, Performances, Fashion, Impact, etc

her worst era in my opinion, there was definitely more bad than good

but that's just my opinion

Her least financially successful era, yes.

But a flop? If we look at it in terms of how it impacted fans, clearly it struck a chord with many of them. Maybe not at first, but the impression I get is that ARTPOP gradually grew on many fans and, once they began to grasp the concepts of the piece, the more connected they felt to it.

If the ARTPOP era did nothing for you, then it's most likely a flop in your eyes. But if it had an emotional or inspirational impact on as many monsters as it ultimately seems to have had, then monetary issues do not matter. Gaga did her job, the rest is out of her hands.

Yes

- singles mess

- the potential hits left behind

- boring not consistent fashion

- low sales

- only one top5 bb hit

- little impact on GP

- huge blackout in the middle of era

- manager fired

Many of these were not in control of gaga, but the fact is - her label made it a flop.

I don't consider it to be. I thought it did really well actually. Not as well as other eras, but still it did well in my eyes. The flop part was the promo. Well, promo after Applause at least.
