I.E. always wearing couture, etc. 2.Gaga is able to strike a point in the audiences that Taylor doesn't, which makes them cringe. aaronyoji 2,053 Posted November 26, 2014 Share Posted November 26, 2014 taylors music is just bad. shake it off for example, so high pitched and fast and its all 4th/8th note rhythms on a fast beat, thats music speak for f*cking insufferable on the ears. her use of metaphor is actually quite literal. vocally she doesnt deliver anything special. to remain sounding ubiased, go for the most musically technical aspect between both of them, cuz there are clear good and bad aspects to music regardless of who it is, and in that department gaga undeniably>>>>taylor. You would have to look at sales, and things like that, anything else would simply be opinions. see the LAST thing the op should bring up is sales and numbers and statistics. those things dont indicate quality, like at all. especially in pop music. go for the technical musical aspect of both their songwriting. you cant go wrong with an educated songwriting a--lysis. If it's a research paper you need facts. 1:Comparing their voices is opinion based. These are the things that even people who are not interested in pop music can mention. On the other hand, regular pop stars like katy Perry, Taylor Swift does not have these type of iconic characteristics. 3- In gaga's last 3 albums, there is no such song that Lady Gaga did not co-produce or write in her discography, there is even songs only produced by her like Venus, Teeth. Taylor Swift does not produce music on her own but co-produce some of them(not as main producer). For more than 50% of her songs, she did not involve in producing. 4- Chart success is not a relevant reference. Thriller single (which is one of the most iconic pop songs ever, still played everywhere, everybody knows its video etc) was never #1 on charts, the highest it reached was #4. You can find many examples like that. 5- Lady Gaga's vocals are noticeably strong compared to Taylor Swift, prove with videos. 6- Lady Gaga is more versatile. (jazz-rock-rap-pop-piano ballads) vs (pop-country) 7- Lady Gaga is able to dance. 8- Lady Gaga is much more theatric. Look at their performances, on the stage Lady Gaga is also acting with her gestures. 9- Lady Gaga's stage productions are x5 times more complex and more interesting than Taylor's. When said like that it is not so relevant so add visuals for this fact. 10- Socially and politically, Lady Gaga is much more active than Taylor Swift. She is an activist while Taylor is not. Taylor has outsold Gaga in the US, but they are basically at the same when looking at worldwide totals. (although Gaga does have way more sales outside of the US) Then, you could look at tour grosses, awards, etc. Or are you just basing this on subjective areas of talent? If so, everyone knows that Taylor's strength isn't her vocals. Both of them are songwriters that are greatly respected in that area. They both are heavily involved in the vision and direction of their albums, videos, and their presentation to the public. They both are actively engaged with their fans and have a more personal connection to them than most other artists. I would say that Gaga is more creative overall, but Taylor is a better business person, so that one equals out the other. For two artists that couldn't be more different, they are actually very much alike. :) You are so lucky! I would have so much fun with this project. I don't know much about Taylor Swift so some of what I say may be assumptions... Taylor seems so one dimentional to me. From her musical style all the way to her videos and appearance. She sings quick poppy countryish songs. Gaga on the other hand has rock, techo, electronic, country, r and b, and jazz influences in her music. And then Gaga changes the style of her songs when she sings them acoustically. Gaga's voice has much more depth, richness, and body. Gaga is more creative. She is involved in every aspect of her career and has true intentions and visions for her work. She isn't just following what somebody else is telling her to do. Everything we see starts from her and the Haus is there to filter and execute her vision. Ok, I should probably stop because i really know nothing about Taylor Swift. Are you allowed to show the class interviews and performances? I would suggest you learn as much as you possibly can about Taylow Swift.
