yASSsss 35,510
The ignorance. It was never on top to begin with. The Middle Earth world created by J.R.R Tolkien is the work that gave birth to Fantasy literature and the first few pages of the creation of the world on SIlmarillion are deeper that the whole HP series. This is not only a fantasy masterpiece but a literature masterpiece as well, it's not a well-written fairytale about wizards. (and I've grown up with HP and I've readen the books) It's like comparing The Beatles with One Direction or Michale Jackson with Usher. It's not even a contest. I may agree with you.but people around our age grew up reading harry potter and watching those films.LOTR may top HP story wise or content wise, but HP will always be special for us(the readers).idk,it just has that emotional connection that i never felt with any other books or movies. And don't forget we have spin-off series coming about HP world.and i still believe she's working on the 8th book of HP Call me by your name and I'll call you by mine
Rivulet 0
Probably. Quality will always be around while people are inspired and passionate.
Bear 7,515
No other book/film has grown with it's audience like Harry Potter has, and I don't think any other will for a long time. It's perfect :saira: Although LOTR & co are brilliant too, but I just don't have the emotional connection with it like I do with HP.
VforVendetta 2,024
Delusional, it is not even in Top 25 Highest Grossing Franchise of All Time Here us the Top 10 1. Harry Potter $ 7,723,431,572 2. Marvel Cinematic Universe (from Ironman 1 and on) $7,155,437,112 3. James Bond $6,159,601,036 4. Tolkien's Middle Earth franchise $4,923,348,799 5. Stars Wars $4,382,359,868 6. Spiderman franchise $3,963,259,504 7. Batman franchise $3,805,543,530 8. Transformers franchise $3,763,061,698 9. Pirates of The Carribean franchise $3,729,577,967 10. Shrek franchise $3,510,794,482 Box office wise Tolkien's franchise only at #4ou a You are really comparing the Box Offices to prove which is better? Why don't you compare the oscars and the awards? I am talking about the creation anyway, I couldn't care less about which sold more (eventhough if I recall with the last Hobbit film the Middle Earth saga will come close to HP in sales and with only 6 films, it doesn't matter though)
Robotboy 1,700
uhm. LOTR+hobbit tops it obviously. but they spent much more time and money and could get so many details in te story, while the HP film series cut too much out (but the HP BOOKS will never be topped ) Remember that you are unique. Like everyone else.

Tolkien's work belongs to the early 20th cetury and it's still iimpacting today and is considered the biggest work of fantasy literature. All today's fnatsy creations have heavy influence from Tolkien, including A Song Of Ice and Fre (Game Of Thrones), Harry Potter and most others as well. It's obvious that this generation is biased but what will happen when time passes?

bionic 50,107
Both of the Deathly Hallows films were abominable. The rest is amazing though. Perhaps in a few decades they can remake the films with a leading trio who can actually act (sorry!).
