Was "pre-BTW Gaga" a product that we all fell in love with?

this. polished and perfect to me means contrived, low on substance, less soulful. i dont stan for other pop girls either, mainly for that particular reason, they water down gaga's level of work and it ends up being very polished and unnatural and contrived for them. 

 

also for the record, that ARTPOP film was directed by inez and vinoodh, they are professionals, and they are the best in the fashion industry and have directed many fashion films before gaga and excel in arguably the best portrait photography in this day and age. sure the audio isn't meshed too well, but it doesnt come across as unprofessional to me and never did in this instance.

you guys are going off of the assumption that her earlier work was her best in quality tho, which is highly highly arguable, especially if were focusing on just the music. 

its called evolving, youre supposed to look at your earlier work and sort of aw and cringe a little, because artists grow. yeah u liked it, everybody liked it, thats what got her famous, but that doesnt mean her earlier work was the pinnacle of her potential. at least musically, the fame and the fame monster suck in comparison to what shes done recently and what she could do.

The Fame and The Fame Monster are overall more polished than the other eras not because it was fake, but because she had a way superior team. It was before all this "I got too big and people used/betrayed me" mess where she kept changing everyone on the team and we had all those unconsistencies and poorly executed jobs (like TEOGs video production, for example).

In the industry Gaga's in...she understands everything is a "product" and "advertisement" for her entire career. However, we have to remember that ARTPOP was a diluted vision of her original concept and she had to work around the fact that her team failed her during the era and Interscope kept changing her album....therefore the final result of the entire era was messy.

 

I think the best way to say it is Gaga PUBLICLY was battling with HER vision of the era vs. Her labels. 

 

That explains the single choices, the lack of promo, the tour, etc...

I think the BTW era was as polished as TFM, the problem is with ARTPOP. We all know why all of the ARTPOP mess happened, her team was a mess, her manager was a mess, she was a mess, the era was a mess. We're gonna have to wait for the next era and see what happens.

I think Gagas team was much better during TF/TFM.

When i look at performances like Paparazzi @ VMA's 09, Just Dance on Dancing with the Stars, Taratata with Eh Eh& Pokerface.

The Bad Romance video, Telephone video, accessoires like the "disco stick" or the "fire bar" - it is simple but refined, well timed in the right place and perfectly dosed.

 

During BTW it was from everything to much and not well timed, it feels intended nor artistic.

 

For example: Marry the Night video could be iconic, there are so much good ideas and pictures, but it's not well timed and is bad edited, there were so much potential with the cornflakes all over the body, it was unique and artistic. Why it was not in the video ?

 

Why she don't danced with the other patients with the hospital haats on the head. It would be so bizzare.

But i know Gaga still can be good: i love her Performance with MANiCURE on Muppets Show, it's feels very round, but would  better with less backing vocals.

 

AMA with R.Kelly was very dramatic and  fun to watch ( but i don't like R.Kell, he destroyed the song ) but here her voice was to quit.

 

On Alan Carr Gagas voice was stunning, but the tablet made no sense.

 

The perfect Gaga i see in "Firefly" with Tony Bennet on PBS - her timing with all these moves are genius and it was very funny and charming, simple but effective.

 

Art art must be appreciated at the right time on the right spot, not sink into chaos.
