Quark 7,098
o<(0_0)>o "Interstellar" is out in Theaters today in the U.S.. The movie has a pretty good score of 73 on metacritic so far. This is the new original movie from Christopher Nolan. The director of movies such as the Batman trilogy, and Inception. The movie is about space travel and weird scientific quantum mechanics concepts. Many critics have already called it one of the most of the original movies this decade. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSWdZVtXT7E

Mich 397
Got to be the first group of people to see this in IMAX pre-release! The effects were amazing on screen, but the plot was sort of disappointing at times. Definitely would be a way different movie on regular screens, so I would recommend IMAX for sure. Edit: by the way, I'm a total non-Anne Hathaway fan and I think she killed it in this movie. I would definitely agree it's one of the most original movies this decade, but wouldn't go as far as saying it's the best. Be prepared for some really bad acting moments and laughable plot twists....kinda weakens the movie at times.

What would you rate it out of 10? It's out here in Europe already. I've seen it yesterday. IT'S JUST SOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOD ED: Nolan is a genius. I even like Interstellar more than Inception now. estxkid 872
I'm seeing it on a regular format screen... Will I be missing out a lot?? Just the framerate and some things. Not much. I've watched it on a regular format screen and I'm overwhelmed by it.
Mich 397
So you did not like the story? (Don't give me spoilers). What would you rate it out of 10? Honestly that's really difficult, because I really do think it would be a way different (and very dull) movie experience on regular screens. In terms of IMAX, overall I'd give it a 8/10..... A 9.5 for special effects and cinematography, and 6.5 for acting/plot. Just the framerate and some things. Not much. I've watched it on a regular format screen and I'm overwhelmed by it. Very untrue....the film was shot in complete IMAX 35mm film and was meant for IMAX. It fills the ENTIRE screen (not the standard regular screen ratios). It is amazing, but I can see there being issues in some scenes of really missing out on quality when being shown on regular. Probably just differing opinions though, glad you enjoyed it! Going to check out IMAX version this month tho
Mich 397
idk what screens are used in US, but here in Europe it filled ENTIRE screen, in a regular theatre. Going to check out IMAX version this month tho This is a pretty accurate example of an IMAX screen compared to a regular theatre screen in the US (although the regular screen says Empire 25 IMAX, I'm talking about size). So basically since the film was shot specifically to accommodate IMAX experience, it reaches all four corners of the IMAX screen and isn't your standard 16:9 ratio, whereas in the regular (16:9 ratio), if you stretched it out to the IMAX screen you'll notice that the entire top and bottom parts of the film are missing. Maybe it's not much of a difference on regular screens...but the part where they travel through the worm-hole is AMAZING in IMAX. Blew me away. There are IMAX screens that are smaller, but the one I'm referring to is what is usually know as the "true" IMAX. I have no clue how many there are around the world I guess, but highly recommend checking into it as it will be completely worth while.
