How would you like to have restrictions or complete bans on your favorite songs? In addition it's perhaps more important since many people see them not just for fun but for defence and heritage too. And fyi, "military grade assault weapons" must be individually registered with the ATF and owners must undergo a background check, in addition any such firearms must have been made and registered before 1986, ie no new automatic weapons can be produced and sold. NO ONE is going to take guns away in the US. We are talking about restrictions that involve better background checks and control of certain types of guns to certain age groups or in a VERY few cases, the average citizen. Americans are still free to own a hundred guns and to get a permit to carry a weapon. IF you move to the US, and become a legal citizen, you will have those same rights and yes- you will be able to own guns and even carry one with a permit. This has nothing to do with having a Republican or Democratic Senate. You must hang out on Fox News sites. (or that type) Don't believe what you hear from the extreme conservatives at places like that. They spout off complete non-sense and use it as scare tactics. That doesn't mean that every Republican is against gay rights. it means that the elected officials from Republican Party tend to vote against legislation that has to do with giving LGBT individuals the rights that other human beings have in the US. Now that the republicans control both the upper and lower house, it really sucks if you're a female, homos-xual, ethnic minority or an immigrant. I just hope the republicans do a good job these next two years. That's what's important. Not all this taking sides BS. I don't agree. Minority groups were alienated and others didn't turn out. And other ID laws and such upheld by the Supreme Court during an election cycle prevented still others that could have voted, from voting. Not to mention this is a midterm, and GOP are more likely to turn out to begin with in elections especially midterms whereas more of the liberal-leaning voters don't turn out nearly as much as during presidential elections. And don't get me started on the unlimited amount of money allowed in our political campaigns that is clearly and overtly influencing our elections. 2012 was just the beginning as the first major one with the ruling of Citizens United which is the preeminemt superPAC, and this election was even worse with all the political ads.
