Shadow 6,697 Posted November 5, 2014 Share Posted November 5, 2014 The irony in when folks mention "they'll move to Canada" since they don't approve of the election results, is them leaving indirectly helps conservatives become stronger in the US by removing their vote. The GOP came back hard, because too many liberals didn't vote this time, since numerous liberals were also at odds with the Obama Administration over issues and the Pelosi's and Reid's Congress. It's like the liberals got divided and gave up. Some might even argue that their vote doesn't really count... Well, that definitely is the result when one doesn't even participate. Anyways, I guess this effectively makes Obama even more of a lame duck president if he wasn't so before. Stand in the light, cast your shadow. Not surprised at all and I definitely won't be surprised if the next president is a Republican as well, considering the national approval polls for Obama. You know nuthin John Snow. Conservatives just want better fiscal policies. Gay marriage can wait a little bit. 31 out of the 50 states already allow it anyway and we need to get the economy flowing better again. The republicans might be annoying and backwards but they know how to pump up the economy far more than the democrats who like to spend money too much.The economy crashed under the Republicans. Obama came it into with the damage done and the country just bottoming out, which happened while Bush was still president, and why Bush went and hid out for a few years he was so hated, and the economy has been on the upswing in the last few years. It didn't matter who came in after Bush, our country was in financial turmoil, a recession that was bordering on a depression, and that it was going to take many years to pull out from that. That's what Obama had to deal with for years, coming into office stuck with wars and with our economy collapsing right before he came in.Clinton, a Democrat, had us in one of the best fiscal positions in history, an actual surplus. The Republicans ruined that for eight years, and Obama came into with our country in massive debt and companies failing, all under a Republican president. A 280 billion dollar surplus under Clinton turned into a 6 trillion dollar deficit thanks to Bush. The what ifs will always be if Bush had not won and Gore had (he actually won anyway) how different our country would have been. But keep on believing what you're saying, it's just a buzz line the Republicans like to taut. History doesn't bear it out. Both sides have their issues and why two parties are necessary, but Republicans have ruined their once great party by being beholden to a far right wing zealot faction of the party that has been putting idiots in office. The once great intellectual Republicans aren't far right enough for them, and until they grab back their party from the far right tea party and religious zealot faction, a Republican probably won't be president.It is such a game now, that neither side works with the other in Congress and the Senate, just lobbying for themselves and the opposition making the way for the President to fail so their party has a better chance next elections. They had old-time Republican and Democrat heads talking on 60 Minutes several years ago about how they used to work together and give in and make deals and pass things, but no longer, and that that is what is damaging the country. There is so little compromise with the party system; I wish everyone would go independent and we could vote on the basis of who is the best candidate versus what party they belong to. That being said, I think if the GOP lets Obamacare go (which, idk, a lot of them are hell-bent delusional) we might have a functioning government again. Hopefully they don't **** it up...
