Wow, after her disappearance from Spotify Red and Speak Now have actually climbed the Swedish iTunes charts. They're right now #22 and #23

Her opinion on the matter of free music is irrelevant. Music is art when you have the full album in your hands. On Spotify, you are not receiving the full effect if you listen to the music. If you are using the free service it's broken up by commercials and whatnot. The way that I look at it, is that Spotify is for people who a.) don't care about owning the album or b.) who want to listen to the CD before going out and buying it. Get with it Taylor, you have more than enough money.

Seriously? You do realize artists barely make money off their albums, right? It's the touring and promo that gets them money.

Seriously? Yes, I am serious.

They owe their labels for the funds for recording albums big sums of $$$.

And big star like Taylor and Gaga will have big budget to record an album.

For renting studios, and mastering around the world, and hiring folks.

If an artist cannot sell their album and pay back what their label have borrowed them, they will be eventually dropped cos not profitable.

If a big artist dropped fpr this reason,

it will be hard for them to find a label that will sign them.

An artist barely a big boss here.

Those executives does.

It is called entertainment business for a reason.

Logic, man.

But it's not greedy to think that we as the consumer should just get the results of everyone's hard work for free?

Those tour tickets though.

That's like saying, "if Taylor doesn't get those album sales, she will only make 100 million this year and not 110 million."

I think she would live.

More accurately, she doesn't want LESS as a result of Spotify.

She's trying to preserve her business model.

If you want it free, go to files tube or bit torrent.

I don't want it free though I just can't afford full prices for albums so I use spotify where I at least get to contribute slightly. I can see where she's coming from but she'd still get iTunes sales on top of the money from spotify so whats the point?

I guess she wants more sales, but this also is going to fuel piracy. The whole point of streaming is to provide people the opportunity the listen to music at a lower cost so people don't to illegally download. She can do whatever she wants with her music but obviously her priority is herself, not the fans.

But won't the fans have already bought the album?

Only Taylor tbh...

We'll see how this will turn out for her!

Beyoncé did the same thing.

Taylor did the same thing with Red, but then let it go to streaming services a few weeks later. It didn't hurt that album, at least here in the US.

Maybe these two are on to something here.
