How is that an insult? Are they forced to believe in it? Should Muslims feel insulted too, since they believe in Jesus as a Prophet, and Christians raised him to the level of God?

Is he insulted by books about Hinduism and Budhism too?

What kind of classes are these? Just general about all religions?

well if u have a belief and ur child is ebign taught in a text book a different belief only... its understandable some people might get mad...

especially if they take it seriously and have strong feelings about it. They shouldnt be promoting one religion over another in a school text book

you don't get it. The text book is not saying Allah is the only God, it quotes something from the Quaran that says so, which is what they believe in. It's the same thing as if a textbook from a country where christianity is not the dominating religion teaches about christianity by quoting the genesis.

Read before you comment please.

so its just 1 reference? not like a unit that focuses on it?

on that case, yeah i dont see the problem

Unity? :awkney:

Religion is a faith built of different beliefs.

Unity is language, culture, traditions, and what not...

Religion is meant to unite humanity, it's not religion's or God's fault if humans destroy the gift that a religion is. :awkney:

‘If religion be the cause of disunity, then irreligion is surely to be preferred.’ ‘Abdu’l-Bahá

Do you know that religion means link. So a world without linking (without unity) would be better ? I don't get your point.  :awkney:

u might have half an argument if religion was the only source of unity

that being said, i see the benefits of spirituality if done properly

Surely these quotes are important for religious and history studies though?

I studied religion for my GCSEs and we had books full of quotes like this, it's for education, not propaganda, where is the issue?

It's for educational purposes though, they're not told to believe these quotes but to learn about and apply them to their work? It's pretty important to know world wide beliefs and in my eyes, it's pretty ignorant to not be educated or even have a basic understanding of something that is such a big part in a huge number of people's lives.

That's exactly what I'm trying to say, if spirituality is done properly, it can have really good benefits. Thanks for understanding that. :)

But they're not? It's just information. Like, if they would include text about Jehovah's Witnesses, they reject trinity doctrine, right? So if they would put quotes from Bible to support that, would it be a problem? Would other Christians get mad? If you want to learn about something, you go to the source.

lolll garnite tho

but in all seriousness, isn't it in the textbook because it's quoting the qur'an? I don't really see the problem...

The textbook portion also reverently celebrates Muhammad’s life.

“Muhammad never expected to change world,†the admiring, rah-rah textbook reads.

Didn't he conquer a city and force Islam upon it?

It okay it quote Islamic beliefs about God etc, but the account of M seems rather sugar-coated.

“Everybody should respect everybody else’s religion.â€

What about aspects of religions that are intolerant of basic liberal values and human rights?

RAMROD

Scandalous.

For that town.

Maybe a Bible belt town.

Though the state isn't one.

wonder if they included the bit about muhammed marrying a 9 year old. "he might've married you were he still around!"

OMG I love you :lmao:  Pictured this quote printed in the schoolbook within like a thought-promt text box, next to the text. Maybe even with a stock photo of a girl pondering.

But seriously though, people are offended that a religion text book teaches what different religions believe?  Why is this even a thread, let alone an article? C'mon people.

"“What is Muslim about? What is Christianity about? That’s what I teach at home,†parent Idalia Garcia told the Fox station. “Everybody should respect everybody else’s religion.â€"

agreed

but I still think this world would be 100% better without religion

nope, we would most likely others humans etc

So the title from that link is

"Massachusetts Father Mad Just Because Public School Teaches ‘There Is No God But Allah’ "

So he took his son out of elementary school because of this. These are just some basic things, don't they teach these everywhere about all religions? I don't get it.

Since I live in Germany, but I visited the protestant religion classes in elementary and we never talked about other religions
