Where did Gaga say that she thinks she invented the word? She's just happy to see the word being used. She likes the term, wanted to help further popularize it, and is happy to see someone else mainstream using it.

Some of you, as usual, are SO quick to criticize and ridicule Gaga for everything. You're the ones reaching by reading more into her tweet than what she actually wrote.

Im blonde, I'm skinny, I'm rich, and I'm a little bit of a bitch.

Haroon

It's just a tweet :deadbanana:

I think it's cute how Gaga's happy about it :nick: We all know she likes Gwen so it's great to even be hearing those words come out of her mouth, regardless of whether it's because of her album or not

Some of you need to take a long hard look in the mirror.

ARTPOP was NOT a commonly used term before Gaga got her hands on it. Don't even pretend it was. The phrase has been used before, but so has poker face and bad romance - but those are associated with Gaga due to her popularising the phrases. It's the same with ARTPOP.

If she wasn't referencing Gaga's album then I'd question what she's doing with the little Koons-esque statues, balloons, and then use of the word ARTPOP.

The internalised b---hy nature and lack of objectivity from some "fans" is intolerable.

Kermit the frog

LOL. Gwen is going to be like "what? I just made that up on the spot"

Ikr? I wouldn't be surprised if she's never heard of gaga's artopop :toofunny:

Sometimes I regret being part of this fan base, then I remember I'm a little monster for Gaga and I see there are healthy minded fans like you that are still part of us and there I still have the strength to continue here... I just can't deal with all of your criticism against Gaga for tweeting that she's happy... Let her feel her work is appreciated and stand by her, not against her...

When the critics and gossip sites tear her down, many times I'm sure it's by all the things the so called "true monsters" say, it's just sad

The only time I've ever seen ARTPOP used is this one paragraph on the 'Art rock' wikipedia page :sweat:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_rock#Art_pop

What makes it funnier is that if they're referring to "art pop," a genre that some bjork fan probably made up in 1999 and virtually no one knew about before 2012, it still doesn't even make sense in the context that Gwen used it.

"Art pop" refers to specific musical and vocal qualities.

Gwen was talking about imagery, Gaga's ARTPOP.

I honestly can't. The only embarrassing thing about this is that Gaga is being harpooned by her own fans for this. She is the one who popularized ARTPOP as it pertains to music with imagery. She popularized art pop, period.

And, in 2014, if someone says art pop, the music world thinks of Gaga. How is this even in question? Why some of her own fans are trying to deny that is beyond me.

Exactly! :applause:

I don't get how people are contesting what Gwen meant since those perfume bottles are very Koons-esque.

Even if Gwen wasnt directly refering to ARTPOP in relation to Lady Gaga, she said the word because it's now a term that's thrown out a lot in 2014. More often than say... in 2011.

Gee i wonder why. :derpga:
