It's just weird to hear an artist say that, when I saw Katy Perry I only knew the hits yet she didn't have anything negative to say. It's pretty much this I agree with you! She might think rebeling against the "man" and doing her own thing which happens to be the opposite is a good thing. People like myself (die heart fan) Have fallen inlove with her because of her hits and her songs. If there was no just dance we all would not be here today. It's a bit ungrateful but I love her non the less and I think her rebellion will end. This is her truest form of rebellion We the fans are her parents and she is the child. We will always love her as our child but can't give up on her when she rebels. For me personally, if I have no idea what the other songs are besides the singles then I wouldn't find it as exciting or fun.
