scrappy 302 Posted October 14, 2014 Share Posted October 14, 2014 The problem on ARTPOP are not the instrumentals and the production, but her cringe-worthy and embarrassing lyrics. Hell, I even think ARTPOP has the greatest instrumentals of her career (not all the songs tho). Don't forget about the flat, auto-tuned vocals. I think ARTPOP is very uneven; there are good lyrics (Dope, ARTPOP) and some really bad ones (Venus, MANiCURE, JnD, Donatella). The same with instrumentals; amazing (Dope, DWUW, Aura) and mediocre (Donatella, Swine). I think MANiCURE is an interesting case. I'm not a fan of the song; the lyrics are bad, the first part of the instrumental is a little dull (the cheerleader claps) but the outro is amazing. I think the combination of Rock and Trap is a very interesting idea and I would like to hear a more refined version of it on the next album. And I think many songs sound much better live- with live drums and electric guitar, especially Swine, MANiCURE and Aura Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
