SISTERV 3,887
No...it wouldn't have. You are confused about how radio works. There would have had to have been a full promo cycle and a ton of payola involved, and then it still wouldn't have worked...not coming on the end of a five single era. Â Things just don't work the way you are thinking they do. Not as far as radio songs go! So people can't promote a single? I mean.....I guess every debut artist that may or may not get to release an album based on their chart success is a lie then. I mean....no one had really heard of Gaga nor did she have proper backing and Just Dance went #1. I agree that it was part of an album that would eventually come out but no one was paying attention to some random's album.....the song just did well. If the song is good enough ppl will pick up on it. Why do you think Lorde, Meghan trainor, Carly Rae Jensen have had big hits? It wasn't bc they were promoting their album out the ass. It was bc they put out a single and ppl liked it.
Morphine Prince 106,041
No because I want a new album next year.
SISTERV 3,887
Honestly if Gaga went on GMA, Ellen, and The Talk one day and performed it with the focus being on the song, not some whack outfit, then people would pay attention and buy it. And maybe even do with it what she wanted to do with Applause....have the video and single debut the same day. No because I want a new album next year. She could still release a new album.....but I am just saying an in between single. Maybe even a big feature or collab.

Whispering 18,865
....Erm.....Kesha was on the downhill and then she did Timber with Pitbull randomly and it slayed. Some of Lana Del Rey's most downloaded songs were not on an album but we're for random movie soundtracks, and Madonna's biggest hit she ever had, Vogue was for a movie musical soundtrack that her label randomly decided to release as a single. Even in hip hop, Drake released 0 to 100/ The Catch Up and it isn't on any album but it's a song that won't be on his next record but foreshadows it and it went #1 on the Hip Hop charts.  Kesha sang a repetitive hook for a Pitbull song. I don't want Gaga to do that!  We are talking current Pop radio here, not hip hop, not singing some hook on a Pitbull song,  and not some movie song from years ago. Years ago, movie songs were a big thing! Hell, songs from TV series went #1. Times have changed.  Gaga could release some random song, but it is not going to get significant radio play without being attached to an album era.  If it was a song for a movie, it would have to have a planning, promo and lots of payola to have even a remote chance of getting any real radio play. I disagree. I honestly think people are still interested enough in Gaga, that if she just decided to drop a random single and left it open for people to judge, the fans would support her and buy it and it wouldn't get bogged down by an album or what it is supposed to mean. Â Gaga had proper backing when she released Just Dance. She was with a major label and that label was promoting that single from an upcoming album. Â What you are talking about really just doesn't happen in today's current radio world, especially for an established artist...not without some blockbuster movie or viral ad campaign situation. (and even the chances at that are extremely rare)
Whispering 18,865
In the middle of CTC era? what is she supposed to do with CTC in 2015? Â January will be leading up to the Grammys and she and Tony are doing a tour for C2C. I imagine it will extend into 2015...probably through the first quarter. She said she will release annual jazz album, that would mean no pop anymore according to you.

Nope, it just means she will start writing while she is doing C2C (which she is doing) and will start on her next solo project when she is back in the US and when she has time.  Not releasing some random single, thrown out to radio without major label support or an official era behind it, does not mean she isn't doing Pop anymore. It just means that she and her label aren't ignorant of the way it works with Pop radio play. They know it has to be attached to an album era or it has to be from a rerelease of a major successful album, or something of that nature.
