We can't tell the actual sales boost because the Oscars didn't boost other artists' album sales, unlike the Grammys which pushed a number of albums past C2C. Most of the albums that were above c2c after the Grammys are also above it now (maroon5/hozier/sam/ed/beck), the only ones that were above it 2 weeks ago but aren't now are Annie and Katy, and those were replaced by Selma and The Sound of Music soundtracks now. ViviLittleM 3
SHAZAMING OSCAR NIGHT Adam Levine and Maroon 5's performance of "Lost Stars" from the movie Begin Again was the most-shazamed musical moment of the evening at the Oscars last night, according to data gathered by Shazam. Second was Rita Ora with "Grateful" while Tim McGraw was third with his heartbreaking rendition of Glen Campbell's "I'm Not Gonna Miss You." Jennifer Hudson's soulful take on "I Can't Let Go," from the In Memoriam segment was in fourth place, and John Legend and Common's stirring performance of their Oscar-winning song "Glory" rounded out the Top 5. Lady Gaga ranked sixth with her impressive Sound Of Music medley; coming up last was the over-the-top Tegan and Sara and The Lonely Island take on "Everything Is AWESOME!!!" from The Lego Movie. Many insiders are crediting Interscope gunslinger John Janick with helping to re-craft Lady Gaga’s image as an adult artist, ending her meat-dress chapter and opening what might be called her vegetarian phaseâ€â€first with her commercially successful, Grammy-winning collaboration with Tony Bennett and now with her show-stopping Sound of Music medley on Oscar night, which earned heartfelt praise from Julie Andrews herself. With vital assistance from Janick and team, Gaga has made the pivot to upper-demo appeal seamlessly. Don’t be surprised if your bubbe decides to get some ink. http://hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=294792
