They should've ended the era after it. :( MTN was nice for promo purposes regardless, helped push the album some thousands more copies WW. (Keep in mind MTN paved the way for an EMA's performance, UK Alan carr appearance, US NYE show, etc). The single bombed, but it offered more exposure for the album itself. That's what made ARTPOP so disappointing. Sure GUY tanked, but Gaga literally just gave up. She could've kept going on TV and doing interviews etc. and pushed the album beyond 3M WW and 1M US if she were persistent. But that goes along with the whole era I guess. A let down. I don't think we'll ever really know what happened. All we saw from our end were promo slots in France/Germany cancelled, Australian visit postponed (that never came), a video cancelled, etc. Clearly some severe management struggles internally and then Gaga just stopped altogether for a few months. I honestly don't think G.U.Y. ever had a shot. The video was essentially a movie of what Gaga had hoped for ARTPOP in the beginning. Basically a funeral for the era, then she moved on and no single followed. I think she almost had to release G.U.Y. for her own sanity- Put out the imagery she wanted for the album before letting it go. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
