Applause says hi. Despite it having the chart run on the radio at least that you like it still hasn't outsold Born This Way which disappeared the moment it lost the number one spot on the Hot 100

People do too much on Born This Way. It sold 2M during its 6-weeks stay at #1 then another 2M after that. Far from disappearing after losing the top spot.

Are you seriously comparing these two runs? BTW was at the peak of her carrer and ARTPOP at the most negative part of it. The Era was doomed from the first moment, the media had decided. Applause survived out of a miracle and not only tha but it obtained huge longivity. The unexpected crumble of BTW from the top of the charts to the bottom was a combination of Gaga's huge name/influence to the media back then combined with it's mediocrity as a single and the fact that she left people divided with it's eccentricity, people eithe rloved it or hated and the fact that they were forced to it didn;t help either. It's two completely different things, let's not.

Let's just hope that the new Era wil strart with a more positive vibe. Gaga needs the reception so that she gets good headlines from the media and a good promotional plan to sustain the sales till the GP gets into her again.

I'm so sad about the Cheek To Cheek position.

Did you really expect this album to have more longevity? I'm more then pleased from it's chartrun and reception.

I'd take an applause over a work b---h (with a higher debut tho) any day any time.

I'd take a Diamonds over both. Slow building, a lot of longevity and ending up with huge sales. She can do it.

By lowering our standarts more we don't achieve anything, we are in th charts section and we have our expctations. I was very happy that Applause survived and did that well but it doesn;t mean that I didn;t exect more before and I still do.

Yeah if she sits down and writes a great song, something she hasn't done since April 2011, when she finished the BTW album

Bye. She'll never debut with those numbers again. She'll never have a hotshot debut unless the next era slays :air:

I'd rather her taking time with promo, radio ads and music video releases over releasing everything in one week leaving nothing for the rest of the single era :air:

I spoke about the bb 200 position (the mess with streaming)

You know, I know.

Albums sales position is good.

Any great song that has a radio deal as huge as Born This Way's was can match its sales, especially if it's released on a Monday and not a Friday

I was thinking if diamonds when i wrote this post. Overall the diamonds era was so peaceful with its slow rise on iTunes and radio.

Ugh don't remind me of the bloody iTunes updates that would last days or the rolling effect :air:

If you say so :air:

The BB chart just shows the obvious, that the album is impacting mainly the older generations and not the new onea and it's expected since the Jazz gerne comes from like 70 years ago. I don't agree that the BB chart is irrelevant lilke some other member suggest, I feel that it's the most relevant one. Streaming is the music platform of our age and so the chart mirros the success of music of today. ARTPOP was much more successful that C2C eventhough they will end up around the same in the US. ARTPOP impacted the children/teens/young adults of today. C2C didn't and that wasn't the point anyway.

Tbh I think the Billboard system goes wrong in every single direction. It doesn't feel right to include airplay and streaming in the Singles Chart, and it sure as hell doesn't feel right in the Albums chart. It's like you're running a bakery and a lot of people show by but no one's buying anything. You wouldn't say "Oh well, I might have not sold any of the sh*t I made today, but at least people stopped by, looked at my pastries and left"

I like your a--logy and it really comes to that : the mess with Billboard is the confusion between sales and no-sales, the volume of customer traffic IS NOT the same thing/concept as customer sales. This are basic marketing notions, really.

It's not the same though. To obtain the things that the bakery has you have to go and buy them. You need to eat food. WIth music you are not forced to buy it anymore, actually much less people buy music every day. So yes, the point of music is popularuty, music is not bread. If you listen the music somehow then the music is doing it's purpose, if you look at food nothing changes, you have to buy it to eat it.
