Who is on her way to have 4 top 10 hits in less than a year? Who had a #1 album this year? Who wrote/ co-wrote every one of their songs on their debut and second album? Whose debut album was a BB #1 for 11 consecutive weeks? Whose debut album was the best selling album in the year it was released? Who had their first five singles go #1? Who did all of this with songs they had written and produced as a SOLO artist? (not with collabs on most of the songs) Who produced every song on her second album? I'm not going to because they are in different points in their careers and it wouldn't be fair to do so. but I love both very much! Arianna is nowhere close to where Mariah was at two albums into a career. Mariah has sold 200 million albums worldwide, (U.S. at 64 million) making her the eighth highest selling artist of all time. And quality wise, the album is pretty good. There are some great songs on that album, like Cry, The Art of Letting Go and Heavenly. It's other people loss if they're missing that. Success =/= Quality music. And as Gaga fans, we should know that by now. Her 'time' lasted more than 18 years (since her first #1 to her eighteen #1, and a bit more if we count her top 10 hits), her career can't be 'killed' at this point, she's a legend, and she can't be 'replaced' by a nickelodeon star who has somekind of 3 hits only with other people's help. Disregard 50 Posted October 5, 2014 Share Posted October 5, 2014 There is no real comparison to be made. Ariana is the welfare version of Mariah, and even people who don't use Mariah know that. She barely has the vocal ability of 2014 Mariah let alone the vocal ability of Mariah in her prime. She has no real power in her voice, it tsomehow still sounds so weak and undeveloped even with her loudness. There is no development, no culture, no enunciation, no structure, no practiced tone. DIVA 666 Posted October 5, 2014 Share Posted October 5, 2014 This is sloppy, but understandable. Her vocal chords are deteriorating due to age and it happens to all vocalists. As far as this Ariana vs Mariah whatever you call it, imo Mariah was a greater vocalist at Ariana's age than Ariana is now. Mariah's chest voice was so well rounded and full, while to me, Ariana's seems thinner and underdeveloped. Both are great singers, but Mariah was almost unstoppable as a vocalist in her prime. Whitney, Mariah, and Celine were all goddesses with a mic in their hands and they slayed the industry, flawless performance after flawless performance. We're all Stronger Together!
