Here in Sweden we had the norse mythology. What is thunder? Oh it's Thor riding his wagon across the sky using his hammer Mjolnir! Today we know it's a powerful sudden flow of electricity (an electrostatic discharge) accompanied by thunder that occurs during an electric storm. The fact that there's countless of religions out there kinda solves the mystery for itself. Or do religious people believe different Gods and suernatural beings from different religion can co-exist? And don't give me the vague arguement that it's just the same God in different manifestation. Evolution isn't a belief. It's been proved and based on actual facts, it's science. The fact that we're siting here today is proof enough. We're just a stepping stone in the never-ending chain of evolution and I doubt we're the last step just as Neanderthals existed before us. From what I've seen, the soul is a combination of our collective DNA in our blood, the unique development of our minds, and the emergent properties that work together in our body to perform the essential operations for life to persist. I think all living creatures possess this feature. Ever hear people say, "follow your heart" along with following your mind? The heart is an organ that pumps oxygen carrying blood to every section of our body. It is the blood that carries our DNA, nutrients, our immune system, our ability to heal our skin and other areas when injured, muscle building proteins, the building blocks for every organ, bone, cell type, and eventually reproduced life so the process can start again in a new unique combination. I believe our brain, spine, and blood work together to put the intelligence in our life system, since we don't have to sit there and think about body operations that go on auto pilot for us. If DNA has the information to make these operations possible, perhaps it is also where we get our intuition and collective wisdom that supplements our intelligence. We may be finite beings, but our blood is like the fire of a torch we keep passing on. If we look at it in those terms, it has been around since we formed as a species as it developed from parent to child. Of course, these are my views and I don't expect others to see it that way. Also, I am aware that the brain carries out these life operations, but I also think the brain is a major extension of DNA as well. Stand in the light, cast your shadow. Luc 4,776 Posted October 3, 2014 Share Posted October 3, 2014 Of course he exists Of course we can't know. it's just a feeling of freedom and privacy you get when you don't have the feeling that somebody is judging you all the time and that you need to have a purpose and a fate. You can be purposeless, make your own decisions and make your own life and live the best off it. When you don't have a religion, it's a BIG feeling of freedom you get. The Bible (for example) is FULL of scaring people, oppressing people and rules you have to follow. Why limit your whole life for something that probably doesn't exist anyways? You don't need to dedicate all of the things you do in your life to one thing 'just in case' that thing exists. If we'd did that with all irrational scenarios our human mind can think off, we wouldn't be able to do anything anymore and we'd be supposed to pray to every God we can imagine. Just FYI: There's just as much chance that the Bible is the 'truthful' religion as there is for the thousands of other religions. It's extremely unlikely that exactly your religion is the right one.
