Jjang 2,262
When people say they believe in the bible do they really mean it? Like even stories like Adam and Eve and the serpent? I don't really think think religion is a bad thing but I think that it is man that manipulate religion to control people is the evil of all. Also I just don't like the way Christians pushes their beliefs on other people who have other religions like mine (buddhist). I remember going shopping or in the library and some random lady would always come up to me and tell me about Jesus and then say my religion is nonsense. Its really offending and Im not even in living in US. Christians terrifies me to be honest. *The Adam & Eve story is recognized mostly as a symbol for many things, not as an actual historical event. Woolfsmck 2,763
in this thread only zacharias has said that. ask him and he will tell you so. but on the forum wider forum yeah, at least three.I would prefer Zacharias to make his own statements, as to whether or not he takes the bible stories at face value, I know he has faith and believes in god like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. garnite 8
I would prefer Zacharias to make his own statements, as to whether or not he takes the bible stories at face value, I know he has faith and believes in godabsolutely. you did however call my statement into question by saying you hadn't seen anyone say that, which is why i specifically named zacharias who if you would look through the thread has said as much, and i've talked with him many times on the forum for everyone to see about this specific subject. and that's why i didn't name anyone but him. rpggal 332
Though there is no observable phenomena that directly disprove a diety, such evidence is not necessary for science to consider the statement false. Science does not work like that. Science does not need a direct observable contradiction of a statement to declare it false. It declares things false on the basis of being inconsistent with the overall theory. Science works on the basis of parsimony: a single explanation of multiple phenomena is superior to multiple explanations of those same phenomena. This is why we have unifying laws of nature, like gravity, electrostatic forces, etc. Science says: because the apple falls due to gravity, it is false that it falls for a different reason every time, therefore it is false that the apple falls because some deity is pulling it down each time. Note that this is not based on observable phenomena, but on parsimony: the same law applying to all apples vs. multiple instances of individuals volitions. If you want to say there is no proof that god does not exist, you're also denying that there is proof that the sun will rise again tomorrow, or that you will fall if you jump off a building, because both of those conclusions, insofar as they are about future facts, are based on the principle of parisomy alone. If you feel that you truly KNOW that gravity exists, then you must also say that you truly KNOW god does not exist. Both statements have the same degree (and type!) of scientific validation. (Note: I will not be responding to quotes since I will be busy all day. If you have something to say, please read my post again, the response is probably in there.) Miracle 14,068
believing in "catholic (and muslim etc)" god these days is kinda ignorant the bible and the religion has so many contradictions and that "sacred" (i call it a "fiction book) that is The Bible was very manipulated in the previous years of the "catholic" the society (the church destroyed the progress of the Greek thinkers but oh well, that is a completely diferent topic) by some of the governeners Believing in the catholic god (or the muslim, or the jew god) is kind of odd? , having faith in something that wasn't created by faith, it was created by politics So, I have my own beliefs I keep to myself, and my beliefs are not really influenced by money, politicals or power PD: I'm really laughing (this is kinda unrespectul tho, give the warning point that i want, I'll turn the catholics/muslims arguments off) at everyone putting "disguting faces gifs" or discussing Hawkings theories with that weak arguments. Some comments at this thread makes me wonder why the earth doesn't progresS if the world keeps promoting fakeness and negative politic influenced religions, I don't think we are progressing as we should. Religion morals shouldn't be a barrier for science, they already been (science was starting to begin back in the ancient greek culture and it didn't florish till the reinassance) and they still are (clonation could save, in fact, many lives. So, believe in a god if you want but believing in infected religions (infected poisonedSECT) is stupid
Miracle 14,068
My believes are 50% science and 50% religion. you can't believe 50 % science 50% religion. it's annoying. not because you're wrong or you can't believe in any religion (which is ignorant believing in the main religions tho) you can think 100% religion 100% science but science and religion don't go together they explore different sides of the world
FKAJAKE 5
I honestly can't even begin to think if there is a god or not, but on the off, slight almost impossible chance there is, i'm 100% sure he is nothing like any religion describes him to be. If god is infinite, why is existence only so far along? if an infinite god were to create things, surely by now we would be at the end state, like all in 'heaven' or something, or a complete utopia. I don't see why a being such as god would create sweaty teenagers, or debt, or headaches. This means that any god that might exist would be very flawed, meaning they created many things but destroyed / started again, or is not omniscient etc... (i'm being really vague with this, u need to use ur imagination) I'd like the think that god would rather a planet full of intelligent and questioning humans, than blind, unintelligent sheep. I don't trust the word of men. I could pick up Harry potter in 2 thousand years, claim it to be the word of god and boom religion. If there was a god, and he cast anyone who denied his presence into hell, surely he would help out his creations by giving us more substantial proof than a corrupt political system
Shadow 6,697
you can't be that intelligent if you think the bible is anymore than parables tho Make your points, but do not insult members... Please... Stand in the light, cast your shadow.
Shadow 6,697
Btw, people discounting the intelligence of others simply if they believe certain things is a counterinituitive generalization. Intelligence comes in different forms and at different levels of specializations. Just because someone disagrees with a certain scientific theory, does not make them inept to study and know chemistry or other sciences or practices that consist of understanding math, algebra, and calculus, along with terms and literature concerning a field of study or skills acquired for certified professions. Even if atheism is a growing demographic, there are adherents that have to contribute to our system of production, academia, and science in one form or another for us to advance this far as a species despite our shortcomings and extremist agendas that would have us regress. Stand in the light, cast your shadow.
