Melech 9,900
I didn't call you dumb. *sighs* you did with the link you posted. "Even among children, the more intelligent a child was the more probable it was that they would shun the church." And still I was one of the best in my school. And the two best students which got a 1.0 (the best you can get) were both from my church.

Just because someone is atheist, doesn't mean they are smart, and just because someone is smart, it doesn't mean they are atheist. What the other users were saying though is that it has been observed that many intelligent people tend to be atheist.

You fail to understand that correlation =/= causation - a very simple thing. it's about GENERALLY. An AVERAGE of people. And I wonder what you consider to be 'smart', because anyone who rejects evolution really lacks some independent thinking. Perhaps they were simply good in learning as many facts as possible and applying them to the exercises they are used to. Doesn't mean you're smart. Being smart is being able to think logically and rationally for yourself, and being able to form your own opinions with that. Something you, and anybody who denies evolution, lack. If an article says the majority of Germans voted for Merkel, that's that. You can't say that it isn't true because you're German and you didn't vote Merkel

Gaga was also raised catholic/christian and therefore is more likely to believe in something or at least be spiritual, and I consider her to be smart too. Also, there's a huge difference between IQ and EQ as well as common sense and other attributes. And Darwin proofed the evolution theory - which you don't believe in - but you are still considering him to be genius, LOL. Don't you see the contradictions? Try to think outside of the box. Read books by people you don't agree with.

Josef Stalin for example was an atheist too, who was a mass murder and psychopath.
garnite 8
Darwinthe irony is ridiculously strong... you're calling him an example of a believing genius, yet he's considered a genius because he was the one who laid the foundations for the theory of evolution, something you claim is bullsh.t. Shadow 6,697
What is ethically & morally wrong came from human nature, like you said yourself before, we can naturally sense what is wrong and what is right, yet not from a religious' perspective / context. But the point still stands valid as there's many ways to logically contradict laws that were put upon us by religion and still make perfect non - flawed sense. Are you implying that we would be following the rules of the jungle if religion didn't exist? When it comes to nature, where did mankind find this code within him or herself? If we study nature and evolution, it is clear that survival of the fittest coincides with natural selection. So how and why would mankind operate counter to its survival and territorial instincts? Not only are we able to supercede our id nature, but we also look out for the benefit of other species with no direct benefit for our own. Is it a matter of higher intelligence or nature that we know morality and the means to bring order to chaos? If it is higher intelligence, how did we learn and how long did it take to gather that wisdom (if people followed it without being hypocritical). It is one thing to know wisdom and morality, it is another altogether to apply it and live it out. Stand in the light, cast your shadow.
