thefamebitch 833
M.E.S.S @ SOME OF YOU Most of you realize there's many MANY more variations of "pop" music besides EDM, right? And most of you also realize that there's a huge chunk of Born This Way and ARTPOP that aren't even remotely close to EDM (Dope, MANiCURE, You and I, etc). That being said, she's completely right, edm-pop is dying off. She's smart to not try to churn out another electronic pop music record, that means she's progressing with her next album sound. Who wouldn't want something different, she's proven that she can kill it with electronic-pop, let's hear her dominate in another sub-genre of pop as well. JaggedMonster 2
When are you guys going to learn not to read so much into what she says? People always assume she means the worst thjng. You'd think the fanbase would be trained by now.
Sister 9,907
I agree with Gaga. We also have Adele's new album coming fast and she is another authentic wonder. The future's uncertain and the end is always near.
Miel 15,009
Electronic music is out, which is why she currently is promoting a tour that is comprised entirely of EDM songs with a focus on rave culture? Oy vey. Electronic music wasn't "in" at the beginning of her career, her go to line was that she had to fight to get her euro-pop dance songs on the radio. Is she admiting that she no longer has the wherewithal to get her style of music on the radio, or is she admiting that she is just going to ride the alternative pop trend? I'm cool with any style of music Gaga decideds to release, but with the dispointing quality of ARTPOP and Cheek To Cheek, I'm not going to get my hopes up. To be honest, I think she's just a) praising Sam Smith and his music, and b) kind of shoeing in Cheek to Cheek. I don't know, the way I interpreted the quote in OP is that people are just tired of the sameness of the radio, and that maybe she is, too. Whether that means she'll do something different in the electronic/dance genre, or something different altogether, I don't know. I kind of don't get her sometimes, and I'm confusing myself even more right now. That said, you didn't like Cheek to Cheek? :( I thought it was alright. Well said, I agree. 3 points in and ready for more
kaojen 1,571
I don't love Stay With Me. But his voice is so haunting and the message and presence of the song always makes me tear up. That is are right there. I am a genre fluid person but at the end of the day I like organic, authentic music first. I love Gaga's pop, but her taking electronic pop music and making acoustic organic performances with it is what got me to Stan for her. Pop and EDM can touch the soul too but I agree with Gaga on this. Music has already headed in this direction though. Look at Adele. In conclusion, pop is awesome but not the best. ItsTommyBitch 12,640
I get what she means about "authenticity", but im convinced that she still loves electronic music she was SO enthusiastic about the production of ARTPOP and she even helped make it She might be catching wave of where trends are heading, and realizing that after C2C she wants to make a more organic sounding album, but ARTPOP is, imo, her most personal album and its entirely edm/pop. Clearly she knows her own musical vision and theres nothing wrong with mixing things up if thats where she is @ in her life Whatever she decides to do next is fine with me as long as its quality I guess I just wanted to put my own 2 cents on the authenticity of ARTPOP/EDM music. Also, since people are throwing out opinions, i love EDM and Pop music (seperate, when combined, in many forms, lol) I'd be lying if i didnt say that modern "popular" music is becoming oversaturated with EDM influences. 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから

Klou 2,414
It's the truth. EDM was at its peak from 2009-2011 and has been declining in popularity ever since.

SKANK 14,288
To be honest, I think she's just a) praising Sam Smith and his music, and b) kind of shoeing in Cheek to Cheek. I kind of don't get her sometimes, and I'm confusing myself even more right now. That said, you didn't like Cheek to Cheek? :( I thought it was alright. I'm enjoying Cheek To Cheek because I love Gaga, but as someone who actually listens to jazz, I can tell you that the music itself isn't mind blowing. It's fairly middle of the road. Which wouldn't bother me, had they had chosen to market this album in a more adventurous way. I'm more into Gaga's performance art and vissual art then I am into her music. So when you combine their mildly interesting renditions of standers with the most stereo typical duets album cover, it all just reads a bit schmaltzy. When Bjork and Nina Hagen do jazz and swing they don't stop being Bjork and Nina Hagen, Gaga stopped being Gaga and started being Lady....which took away whatever was intereseting about Tony and Gaga collaborating in the first place. But again, I enjoyed it and I look forward to whatever the next album is...and God only knows what it will be.
PopBitch 1,218
I don't think ARTPOP captured the magic of EDM for many of her songs this album anyway and did come off dated at times, like she didn't have her finger on the pulse of EDM and electronica in some songs .So it is time for her to move on. There is so much amazing, amazing electronica and EDM out there. But I am into deep house, darkwave, lots of synth, and it moves me in its own way. But it's not mainstream commercial for the most part. But I also listen to a lot of indie rock bands. I also loved loved loved what Lana did in Ultraviolence. She needs to find her own muse again and let it guide her to do music that inspires her or in its own little niche, a fusion of genres, and just do it. As my favorite electronica band, Depeche Mode, said once in an interview, that they make the music they want to make and put it out there and then it is up to the public to like it or not. They don't worry about that part of it. He said it's like creating a painting, and once it's finished, it's finished, and out of their control how people respond to it.
