Melech 9,900
More than 200 police raided a house church on Sunday, eyewitnesses told International Christian Concern. More than 100 church members, including children, were arrested during the Sunday service in Foshan City, in China's Guangdong Province. As of Monday evening, more than 24 hours later, 30 parishioners still remained in police custody. "We don't know exactly why they raided our church," a local believer told ICC during an interview. "The government does not want us to get together and worship as a church." Local believers told ICC that the church was raided without any warning. The police left behind a notice stating that the church members were detained for conducting an "illegal gathering." All house churches in China are considered "illegal gatherings" and are frowned upon by the government. Any believers meeting together to practice their faith in house churches risk being arrested. ICC has learned that though 30 parishioners remain in police custody, most church members, including the children, were detained for 10 to 20 hours and then released. The Mount Olivet Church of Foshan City, a house church with 170 members and over 20 years' history, is located in Foshan City of Guangdong Province. Foshan City is one of the most economically prosperous cities in Guangdong province where Deng Xiaoping's open-door policy was first implemented in southern China. "It is unbelievable that local authorities arrested over 100 church members, including children, in Foshan City," noted Sooyoung Kim, ICC's regional manager for Southeast Asia. "Even though most people have been released, the experience has been traumatizing. ICC urges local authorities in Guangdong Province to respect its citizens' rights to religious freedom, that the government of China says are upheld, and free these innocent Christians as soon as possible." http://www.charismanews.com/world/45490-children-among-100-christians-arrested-at-china-church What kind of a mess. Goosey 3,017
all religions (concepts, not believers) should be put to ideological death, ugh, world would be sooo happier You think Christians should be put to death? Wrong and vile! Christianity is exactly what the Chinese people need right now. Maybe some faith would let them overcome the commies and join the Free World."Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." Brooke Hoegan 1,020
A recent study in Germany shown that believers are more happier than Atheists I'm not speaking about anyone's beliefs, I'm speaking about religion as a whole institutional concept which is bound to create hatred and conflicts I myself believe in (some) God but I'm not anymore a Christian because the authorities (especially in my country) are vile and many times against what a true Christian should do in life
Goosey 3,017
read with understanding, please I'm speaking about the concept of religion, not about people, if I can get any more clearer But if there's no religion how will folks join with Christ to share rulership of the kingdom of God within themselves? Economy 52,951
China does not have freedomFor your information China has been progressing very quickly the last few years under the new Government!!! They are developing and more domestic economy and growing a more equal society in which the rich dont own everything... China has also reduced death penalties and lengths of sentences for many crimes... Also China is gradually becoming less communist gradually as it gives more and more freedoms to private sector... Lastly the new Government hasnt attacked other religions in speeches and seems more enlightned in recent years with personal freedoms!!! I cant at you ppl expecting them to make a 360 turn all at once. These are deeply engraved cultural ethics and its a wonder theyve made so much progress in such a short period of time How about we recognize that progress instead of complaining about specific incidences which we dont even have all the facts or details of anyway? :fail:
bugsnme 3
Its nothing new so I am not surprised? Christians have killed since like pre-modern era in Japan, China etc. It all has to do with politics plus now there are conflicts with Islam in China as well so I guess logically Chinese government wants to like "control" the people's religion?
