You are clueless if you think what she says about Tony and how much he has helped and influenced her isn't genuine. She did not go near to the depth or level of rhetoric with Marina. Tony has done loads more, and you can see it coming out in how happy and confident she has been lately. So, no, she does not say the same thing about everyone. It's unfair and I think it is because she is a pop girl and they see that as her being low brow. It's a subtle swipe at her. Just because he has never spoken about her publically does not mean that he does not like her. They just make that seem as such. AND anyways, anyone with a clue about music is influenced greatly by Bowie AND please, it is not like he will agree to work with everyone who sings his praises. I think that they bring it up to pick at her since Bowie has never mentioned her, good or bad.They bring her down to size often in interviews and reviews because she is a girl and also a pop girl, at that. - JUST MY OPINION The future's uncertain and the end is always near. It could have been a clever side-step answer to avoid actually answering the question like "Yes Bowie is involved!" or "No, the media tend to make up a lot of rumors regarding who I work with. Bowie is a great inspiration to me though... blah... blah" She isn't trashing her pop legacy either. She said she loves all her albums. It think it is interesting how she wrote for other artists and then put herself in that place. Bowie used to do something very similar, he couldn't write for himself so he would create a character to write for. And forget about performing in concerts with 50,000 ppl over the long term because she hasnt been famous lon enough to have a large loyal fanbase that will stick for years I like her pop music and i like her succeeding so she has more resources to work with.
