It was really difficult for a label to show some interest in me since I wasn't the cute girl that they could make into whatever they wanted and give specific types of songs. I had my own songs and I was very creative, I was eccentric. Eventually they liked the songs I was writing. When I started to write songs for other artists and I put my own self in them, it was when The Fame and The Fame Monster came up. When I released Born This Way I was taking a risk because its sound was influenced from rock music and this change seemed to happen in a very short time frame. Now I sing jazz and that reminds me of where I come from. Sometimes you know you need to do something so that you can reach your goals. I support everything that I have done so far and I love my albums equally, I'm a glam rocker actually.
